Comey is a leaker and he might have leaked at other times to manipulate political events. Trump’s ex-campaign manager Corey Lewandowski accused Comey of being part of the “Deep State” and manipulating the media against Trump on NBC’s Today Show.

Lewandowski believes Comey leaked information about Sessions’ recusal to the NY Times for the express purpose of pushing Jeff Sessions to recuse himself from the Russia investigation.

Comey testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee that the FBI had been confident that Attorney General Jeff Sessions would recuse himself from the Justice Department’s investigation into Russian election meddling before he had done so.

Comey said that his bureau was “aware of facts” that “would make his continued engagement in a Russia-related investigation problematic.” Sessions eventually recused himself on March 2 amid revelations that he had failed to disclose meetings with Russia’s ambassador while he was a campaign surrogate for Trump.

Lewandowski said on Friday that Comey was “probably the one who leaked the story” to the press in the first place in an effort pressure Sessions to back away from the Russia probe.

“Jim Comey had information about Jeff Sessions and wanted Jeff Sessions removed from the investigation, he said so basically yesterday, wanted him removed, and timeline doesn’t add up and Comey isn’t telling truth,” Lewandowski said on Fox News.

Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., pressed Comey during Thursday’s hearing concerning what the FBI was aware of regarding Sessions’ recusal, but Comey said he could not discuss the details in an open setting.

“Our judgment, as I recall, was that he was very close to and inevitably going to recuse himself for a variety of reasons,” Comey testified. “We also were aware of facts that I can’t discuss in an open setting, that would make his continued engagement in a Russia-related investigation problematic and so we were — we were convinced and in fact, I think we had already heard that the career people were recommending that he recuse himself, that he was not going to be in contact with Russia-related matters much longer.”

Sessions had suggested during his confirmation hearing that he would likely recuse himself from any investigations related to the campaign since he openly supported Trump throughout the 2016 campaign.

See what you think. We don’t see proof yet but this is interesting.
