Vice President Joe Biden was out stumping with Hillary Monday and trashed Donald Trump with ad hominem attacks but the best part came when he declared that Donald Trump could not have the nuclear codes because he “can’t be trusted” and he’s “not qualified”.
What makes this noteworthy is while Uncle Joe was saying this, he was pointing out the “guy” — the military aide — who carries the nuclear codes and who apparently follows him around.
“There’s a guy that follows me right back here, has the nuclear codes,” Biden said, turning and pointing. “So God forbid anything happened to the president and I had to make a decision, the codes are with me.”
What the H*ll?
This is how this administration is – real loose with national security. He might as well have said, there he is, go kidnap him and you can get the codes.
In 1980 they said Ronald Reagan couldn’t be trusted with nuclear codes, that he was a “cowboy” who might blow up the world.
Bill Clinton lost the personal identification code to confirm nuclear launches and never told anyone according to The Atlantic, October 22, 2010, in an article by Marc Ambinder. This was described as very serious.
Former President Clinton’s office declined to comment today on reports that he managed to lose the personal identification code needed to confirm nuclear launches and never told anyone about it.
Gen. Hugh Shelton, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during the last few years of Clinton’s term, writes about the episode in his new autobiography. Shelton is especially sensitive to the proper authentication procedures, having served as deputy commander of the National Military Command Center (NMCC), through which all nuclear launch progression action chains are processed. The National Command Authority (NCA), as the process and the person of the commander in chief is called, passes from the President to the Vice President to the Secretary of Defense. (In the absence of the SecDef, the Deputy Secretary of Defense can stand in.) Read more here…
