Univision Finally Drops Out of Puerto Rican Day Parade Honoring Marxist-Leninist Terrorist

Lopez can be seen in the crazy hat.

A convicted terrorist and a leader of a murderous band of communists is being honored in New York City’s Puerto Rican Day parade. When communists Mayor Bill de Blasio and City Council woman Melissa Mark-Viverito march to promote the FALN terrorist Oscar López Rivera who will receive a “National Freedom Hero” award, Univision won’t be there!

The leftist organizers see him as a freedom fighter. That’s how ISIS sees themselves and that’s why the Palestinian Authority pays terrorists to kill Israelis – they claim they’re actually freedom fighters.

“Lopez Rivera’s ideologies on the independence of Puerto Rico do not represent all Puerto Ricans,” the organizers said this month in a statement. “Nevertheless, his figure brought together Puerto Ricans of all ideologies, as well as global human rights organizations and leaders, including Pope Francis, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, President Clinton and President Carter, among many others, to seek clemency in unison. Some people call him a terrorist while others think of him as a freedom fighter, as was the case with Nelson Mandela.”

He’s like the Pope!

They’ve been losing some major sponsors as we’ve reported and they can add a few more including the far-left New York Daily News.

Lopez was a strong voice and ardent member of the Fuerzas Armadas de Liberación Nacional (FALN), a Marxist-Leninist paramilitary group that used violence in the 1970s and 80s to advocate for Puerto Rican independence. He claimed at the time to be an anti-colonial combatant, and argued that he couldn’t be prosecuted. He never repented and refused clemency when he was asked to swear off violence.

AT&T, the Yankees, JetBlue, and Goya Foods had previously pulled their sponsorships, and today, Corona has done the same. New York’s police commissioner, James O’Neill, has opted out, as have police and fire unions and fraternal groups, including the Puerto Rican and Hispanic groups. The Puerto Rican were among the first to withdraw.

It took them long enough, but Univision has finally abandoned the Puerto Rican Day Parade. They are the Spanish-language network.

“WXTV Univision 41, WADO 1280AM and La X 96.3 will not be sponsors of this year’s Puerto Rican Day Parade,” Univision Communications said in a statement on behalf of its radio and TV stations.

“Our station’s news team will continue to provide news coverage of the event, as we do with other similar events of this size in our community. In lieu of participating, we will redirect funds to the organizer’s scholarship fund to benefit Puerto Rican students,” the company said.

This parade isn’t the Puerto Rican Day parade, it’s the communist with some Puerto Ricans Day parade.

CUNY is sponsoring the parade and it’s renting out one of its facilities to celebrate López Rivera’s release. When I was in college, we affectionately called CUNY, Communist U.

Governor Andrew Cuomo can’t decide if he’s marching or not. He’s obviously not opposed to honoring a terrorist, he just wants to see if he’ll take a political hit one way or the other. He wants to be President like his thug father who couldn’t pull it off because of his connections if you know what I mean.

Lopez will be the featured speaker at a June 8 “celebration” at Hostos Community College in the Bronx, which is renting out its main theater. He’s been in the Bronx stirring up trouble for the communist cause. He should still be in jail but Obama let him out.

The FALN was behind many attacks, including the 1975 bombing of Fraunces Tavern in the Financial District, which left four dead.
