Navy SEALs have possibly killed the leader of al-Shabaab, a terrorist who went by the name of Godane. Al-Shabaab is the group that took credit for the recent massacre at the Kenyan mall. The attack on the Al-Shabaab leader was in response to the mall massacre according to the Times.

Al-Shabaab reported to Al Jazeera that a group of ‘Westerners’ arrived in boats and attacked a house in a coastal base during the night.

US Navy SEALs along with British and Turkish soldiers were reported to be responsible. One British soldier was allegedly killed. The Brits and Turks denied involvement.

Four men — Abu Baara al-Sudani, Omar Nabhan, Khattab al-Kene and a man known only as “Umayr” — were identified by Kenyan authorities on Saturday as the Al-Shabab members who carried out the attack on the Westgate mall in Nairobi. A spokesman for the Kenyan Defense Forces said all four died in the raid.

Also announced today, in a separate event, was the capture of the al Qaida leader indicted in the 1998 bombings of the United States embassies in Kenya and Tanzania by US forces, according to the NY Times.

The suspect, Nazih Abd al Hamid al-Ruqhay and known by his nom de guerre, Abu Anas el-Liby, has been wanted for 15 years. It was a joint operation by the United States military, the C.I.A. and the F.B.I.

This is very timely for Mr. Obama who has looked weak for his confusing foreign policy. He has also been sinking in the polls, partly because of the shutdown.

The Navy SEALS and the US forces are outstanding! Hurray for our Navy SEALs and our US forces!

Mr. Obama deserves credit for letting them do their job. That being said, how long before Obama takes credit and acts as if he was there? I wonder if the movie is in the works.
