During the State of the Union, President Obama boasted that, “In Iraq and Syria, American leadership — including our military power — is stopping [ISIS]’s advance.”
That’s not possible given the fact that ISIS has seen a net gain in land and people under their control since the air strikes began.
Secretary of State John Kerry, pictured above, said we’ve stopped ISIS in Iraq and in some cases, reversed the momentum. His claim is meant to mislead. He wants the American people to think we are succeeding but overall, we are not. We’re not even treading water.
Everything this administration does is rooted in a rigid adherence to a failed foreign policy.
“In recent months we’ve seen definitively Daesh’s [ISIS] momentum halted in Iraq…” [He calls it Da’esh to insult them because ISIS doesn’t like the word.]
France came up with the idea to do that last September.
These armchair warriors think they are going to win by insulting ISIS. The liberals keep saying “words matter.” Those hackneyed words ring hollow as we watch ISIS maim, massacre, destroy and take over large swaths of area and enslave the people.
Five days ago, it was reported that there are large numbers of ISIS militants amassing on the Lebanonese border.
ISIS has doubled their land in Syria and the number of people living under ISIS control has substantially increased.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards are actively fighting ISIS with the United States. Iran has become empowered from their “tiny country” status to a far more major threat in the region thanks to Obama’s policy of appeasement.
Iran is greatly empowered by our strengthening of the Assad regime and with the success of the coup by Houthis – Iran-backed Shiites.
Iran now has a base of operations with the fall of Yemen. It is on the border of Saudi Arabia, not far from Mecca itself.
Al Qaeda in Yemen is very powerful and will probably take most of the control in the country.
ISIS is actively recruiting in Yemen.
This was all predictable months ago and it could have been stopped but Obama claimed his ‘strategy’ was successful and would not be changed. It’s the same strategy he claims to be using in Syria and Iraq.
Sadly, we’ve released a number of GITMO terrorists to Yemen or to bordering countries.
Senator John McCain says we are losing.
The Daily Beast reported in January that ISIS continually gains land. At least one-third of the country’s territory is now under ISIS influence, with recent gains in rural areas that can serve as a conduit to major cities that the so-called Islamic State hopes to eventually claim as part of its caliphate. Meanwhile, the Islamic extremist group does not appear to have suffered any major ground losses since the strikes began. The result is a net ground gain for ISIS, according to information compiled by two groups with on-the-ground sources.
U.S. military officials admitted the Daily Beast that ISIS continues to gain ground. One Pentagon official said, “Yes, they have gained some ground. But we have stopped their momentum.”
He didn’t say we stopped them, just the momentum, though Rear Admiral Kirby recently said we did stop them.
“Assessing the map, ISIS has almost doubled its territorial control in Syria. But more importantly, the number of people who now live under ISIS control has also increased substantially,” CDS political adviser Mouaz Moustafa said.
The United States claims that they are concentrating on Iraq and that is why they are winning there – ISIS first. However, once ISIS heard that, they’re concentrating on Syria – Syria first.
