It’s not enough to help the poor and the poor throughout the world for that matter. We now have to give the poor those things we can’t afford for ourselves.
The very generous Barack Obama is giving our money to a new initiative which will provide a very expensive form of Broadband to poor neighborhoods.
He’s calling it Connect Home, a pilot project to help “close the digital divide” by bringing broadband to poorer communities. Mind you, most Americans can’t get this yet. It’s also going to entire neighborhoods, not individuals which is a significant change not to be ignored in light of Mr. Obama’s Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Rule.
He is defining expensive Broadband Internet as a “necessity” and a human right.
In providing this to the poor, he’s depriving others. He’s redistributing our money and high-speed Broadband. At some point, the segments of America that are paying for this will run out of money.
The media is phrasing it as something Obama is doing when it is our money that is doing it, not him. It is very easy for him to give away other peoples’ money without considering how he is going to pay for it but it would be much harder if he had to justify it. Don’t forget, we borrow or print money to survive. We run a deficit and have an $18+ trillion dollar deficit.
Now that Obama made Broadband into a public utility, he can give it all away, a gift for which we will be heavily taxed or rather the once-free Internet will be.
Did anyone notice the taxes that took effect January 1st without a single Republican vote and with only Democrat support?
Well, here’s the rundown.
The Medicare tax went from 1.45% to 2.35%
The top income bracket went from 35% to 39.6%
The top income payroll tax went from 37.4% to 52.2%
Capital Gains tax went from 15% to 28%
Dividend tax went from 15% to 39.6%
The estate tax went from 0% to 55%. They tax the dead on money that’s already been taxed again and again.
A 3.5% Real Estate transaction tax was added. That’s the camel’s nose under the tent if ever there was one. They’ve found another cash cow to fund their re-election campaigns.
