Serial Killer on Long Island

Not that long ago, I grabbed my surfboard and raced off to the beautiful Gilgo Beach to ride the waves. It’s a beautiful expanse of blue sky and beach dotted with the homes of the wealthy. It is an unlikely place for a murder, certainly not several. However, this peaceful beach is now the site of at least eight brutal murders.

Several years ago, bodies were found alongside the Long Island Expressway in Manorville, Long Island. The victims were thought to be prostitutes. One victim’s hands and feet had been removed, assumedly by the killer. Prior to that, two bodies were left alongside the LIE, somewhat further west. I don’t believe they were identified. The cases were never solved. Now at least eight bodies have been found along beautiful Gilgo Beach within 30 miles of Manorville. Are the cases connected?

Information about the new gruesome discovery off Gilgo is leaking out. Some is accurate and some is not. This is a killer who will be caught. The forensic evidence is available in several of the cases.

Newsday reports: “Satellite imagery. Laying bare the thick brush of the burial site. Relentless interviews with taxi drivers and others who might know something about a victim’s last day.
These are among the investigative techniques that police have employed in serial killer investigations like the increasingly complex probe facing Suffolk cops along Ocean Parkway.
With the recent shocking discovery of four more bodies just off the roadway from Gilgo to Oak Beach, police may have stumbled upon a scene rich with physical evidence and other clues. At the same time, the additional bodies have taken the probe to a new and difficult phase, raising the pressure on police to find the serial killer or killers, law enforcement experts said.”
