A New Nemesis for EVs: Charger Hogs

EV owners are already worried about range anxiety, and now they have a new problem, charger hogs.

CNN published a report about people going into restaurants and coming out hours later to pick up their car at the charging station.

Between “range anxiety” and charger hogs, nearly 50% of EV owners now say that they regret their purchase.

The smaller chargers are designed to take hours. Apparently, people take forever and charge up to 100% no matter how long the line is.

Some companies might limit charges to 85%.

It might have been a good idea to have the infrastructure in place before they forced EVs on people. Better yet, maybe the Marxists in power should stop forcing anything on us. EVs rely wholly on China for certain metals, and our Marxist overlords are making us rely on China.

Image buying an expensive EV and being to cheap to pay for a parking space for a meal out.
The Dems are sure creating a terribly selfish “me, and only me. first” culture.

Think about it. If the world was actually in such a crisis that it was going to end in 2030, the governments would be telling everyong to drive golf carts and would waive licensing, registration and insurance requirements. Because its an “emergency”. But NOPE. The guberment is telling everyone to buy $100K electric cars. The global warming fraud is all… Read more »

One of my favorite local restaurants here in Venice FL allowed Tesla to put in chargers. The owner and his wife regret it. They take up 1/5th of the parking lot. 85 % of the Tesla owners don’t come into the restaurant, but leave trash to be cleaned up. The owner put up signs saying regular vehicles can park there… Read more »

I learned electric cars sucked in the 60’s. Electric trains too. And oh, Cecil beanies don’t actually make you fly.

All trains are electric.

Diesel-electric, big difference. With trains there is enough room for a big engine to run the generator to power the motors. Cars rely directly on coal power for their electricity.

Just add it to the list – – Cost is prohibitive – (average $70K). Unaffordable for most people – Charging stations are fossil fuel dependent – Travel time increases by as much as 2/3  – Charging takes an enormous amount of time and is 4-5 times more expensive – The batteries emanate unhealthy electromagnetic energy – Charging causes electromagnetic interference… Read more »

what everyone also doesn’t mention also is the wear and tear on tires and the roads due to the cars being heavier by 1k pounds on avg than ICE vehicles. Imagine parking garages with all that extra weight for which they were not designed for, Not a very well thought out plan but then they never are well thought out.

Actually, while it is true that some EVs have a higher psi footprint due to increased weight and higher pressure low rolling resistance tires, it still falls far below load bearing vehicles like trucks. Also, while there may be some increase in weight having to be supported by parking structures, it is not significant as designs incorporate large safety factors.

I think you forgot to mention something that’s probably their most endearing quality, which is their propensity to self-incinerate.

The EV sheep deserve what they get. As usual, almost all liberal ideas are kneejerk reactions to society without any proper thought going into it. As far as making people wait, that’s the liberals mantra, me first then you or as long as it isn’t me that gets screwed, that’s OK.
