Carnival Cruise Lines will travel to Cuba without any Cuban-Americans – ever. Even the children of Cuban-born Americans can’t travel to Cuba. The discriminatory policy is at the demand of the Cuban communist leadership who believe Cubans can never be Americans and that they can control them no matter where they live.
The “embassy” in Cuba makes clear on its website that you are bound to them for life like slaves:
“The Government of Cuba does not recognize the U.S. nationality of U.S. citizens who are Cuban-born or are the children of Cuban parents. These individuals will be treated solely as Cuban citizens and may be subject to a range of restrictions and obligations, including military service.”
If you do business in Cuba as a US company, you do business with Raul Castro’s son-in-law, General Luis Alberto-Rodriguez Lopez-Calleja who is in charge of the economy and the military. That’s the same general who will buy more bullets and torture implements with the money he makes from it, as Mike Gonzalez wrote on National Interest.
Carnival is the Love Boat no more as Mr. Gonzalez puts it – it’s the Hate Boat.
When the US-Cuba agreement opened up the possibility of business with the island nation, the Sentinel reported that it is not Cuba that’s changing, it’s US companies.
The price of doing business in Cuba is for US companies to adapt to communist rules, regulations, oversight, and full control. Communists take their soul.
US governments can only invest as minority members of the company with the communist government as majority members. All companies are majority owned by the communist government.
The US companies will be supporting the violent communist government and they will have no power or authority.
US companies will have to pay normal wages to the Communist government and the government will in turn pay the usual $20 a month to the peasants. Castro will keep the rest of the money. The US companies will subscribe to communist rules.
This will only empower and strengthen the regime and we got nothing for it despite the fact that we had all the power.
Secretary of State John Kerry tried to distance the administration from the company on Thursday. “They should not embrace a policy that is Cuban, which winds up discriminating against Americans,” Kerry told Miami’s Channel 10.
He’s a liar. He knew when they opened up business with Cuba, that they would of necessity follow communist rules. It’s all part of the deal which gave us nothing but did put US companies looking for profits in the hands of the communists.
It might be against the law to discriminate against all Cuban-Americans and at least one lawsuit has been filed but what about the immorality of doing business with communists at the expense of Americans?
