Laureate Education owns 75 schools in 30 countries and until April 2015, Bill Clinton was its honorary chancellor whose job it was to sell the school and reel in students. It’s backed by people like George Soros. Laureate’s founder and chief executive and friend to the Clintons, Doug Becker, took the company private in 2007.
The colleges can cost $40,000 to $50,000 a year and anyone can get in.
They lured students with heavy marketing.
It has been under investigation and stirred controversy throughout Latin America, The Washington Post reported.
As the schools’ reputation slipped, Bill Clinton, Beckers’ buddy, was brought in to bolster the school’s reputation. They paid him a whopping $16.5 million in compensation over four-and-a-half years for this service.
This was never properly disclosed.
The parties never disclosed how much Bill was paid for speeches around the globe promoting the institutions.
But Schweizer estimated that Bill made at least $1 million based on his usual fees.
The Laureate CEO, Doug Becker, is involved as a Clinton backer, Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) and Clinton Foundation donor and involved in the International Youth Foundation. While Hillary was secretary of state, State pumped $55 million into the International Youth Foundation.
“Isn’t it troubling that while Bill Clinton was being paid by a private corporation, the corporation was also benefiting from State Department actions . . . Isn’t it troubling that this seeming conflict of interest was not disclosed?” writes author Peter Schweizer, author of Clinton Cash.
In April 2015, Bill Clinton resigned as honorary chancellor of Laureate Education, a for-profit college company. He left the position weeks after his wife launched her campaign and after disclosures about the ties between the college and Hillary’s State Department, Breitbart reported.
In other words, Laureate funneled more than 16 million dollars since 2010 to Bill Clinton to serve as its salesman while Hillary’s State Department pumped $55 million in USAID dollars to the group (Int’l, Youth Foundation) run by Laureate’s founder and chairman, Douglas Becker, a man with strong ties to the Clinton Global Initiative.
State Dept. funding skyrocketed once Bill Clinton got on the Laureate payroll, according to Bloomberg:
Laureate donated somewhere between $1 and $5 million to the Clinton foundation.
Laureate is also backed by leftist George Soros. Soros’ Center for American Progress is run by Hillary Clinton’s campaign director John Podesta. Pedesta has served as advisor to Barack Obama and is the author of the pen and phone imperial presidency.
During Bill Clinton’s tenure as Laureate’s chancellor, the school spent over $200 million a year on aggressive telemarketing, flashy Internet banner ads, and billboards designed to lure often unprepared students from impoverished countries to enroll in its for-profit classes. The goal was to get as many students, regardless of skill level, signed up and paying tuition.
The schools are mills and anyone can get in.
Rio state legislator Robson Leite who led a probe into the scheme, said,“They have turned education into a commodity that focuses more on profit than knowledge.”
According to Clinton Cash, Clinton’s pictures line the hallways at campuses in the University in Istanbul.
Hillary is now pretending she is against for profit colleges – after cashing in.
