Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has declared the city a Trump-free zone in response to the President’s cancellation of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

All the President did was cancel an unconstitutional ‘law’ aka executive mandate and tell Congress to legislate if they want amnesty for this group, as was appropriate from the start.

Open borders groups protest DACA cancellation.

DACA enables about 800,000 people who say they arrived in the US as children to stay in the country legally, the Washington Examiner reported.

The President gave congress a six month delay in which to put through legislation.

Emanuel made his comments to school children during their first day back at school because violating the law and showing no respect for the President is the new normal.

Protester sign says ‘no wall’.

“To all the Dreamers that are here in this room, and in the city of Chicago, you are welcomed in the city of Chicago,” Emanuel said, according to the Examiner. “This is your home and you have nothing to worry about.”

He said the city would resist Trump.

“Chicago, our schools, our neighborhoods, our city, as it relates to what President Trump said, will be a Trump-free zone,” added Emanuel. “You have nothing to worry about.”

As Jeff Sessions, Trump’s attorney general, argued, the announcement was about ensuring the rule of law.

“Such an open-ended circumvention of immigration laws was an unconstitutional exercise of authority by the Executive Branch,” Sessions said of the DACA program.

Trump had campaigned on this promise but also said he would treat DACA recipients with “heart” which possibly means he will sign a GOP bill that gives them a path to citizenship. It’s odd they haven’t already applied for citizenship which they could have done at age 18.

Illegal immigrants marched throughout the nation, chanting, “We are America” and “We want education, down with deportation.”

“This president lied to the community,” Gustavo Torres, executive director of open borders’ advocacy group CASA, told the Post. “For many months, he said, ‘I love the Dreamers.’ He lied to us, we cannot trust him. We are going to keep fighting, we are going to keep registering people to vote. We are going to win elections in Virginia this year. We are going to win the elections in 2018 and 2020.”

The crowd began chanting “shame” after the announcement was made because the rule of law is not a priority for the open borders/illegal immigration proponents.

A dozen protesters were arrested in New York near Trump Tower after they sat down in the road and blocked traffic.

The Federation for American Immigration Reform welcomed DACA’s demise.

“DACA was an unconstitutional abuse of executive authority by President Obama,” Dan Stein, the group’s executive director, said. “President Obama stated when he implemented DACA, there were no guarantees that the program would continue after he left office.”
