GOP Representative Says DREAMers “Are America’s Children”

GOP Rep. Carlos Curbelo told Chris Cuomo this week that DREAMers “Are America’s Children”. DREAMers are children who were brought here at a young age “through no fault of their own”.

They are the new anchor babies, but where do we draw the line or do we?

The Trump administration has not deported the DREAMers except in cases where they have gang affiliations or they are felons or both.

The case can be made that Democrats are opposed to Trump’s deportation of any DREAMer or anyone for that matter, even gang members and felons.

Nancy Pelosi recently stood up for a self-confessed gangbanger who proudly wears gang tattoos and who told law enforcement he was in two gangs. Later, after he spoke with a lawyer, he took it back.

In mid-February, the foggy-headed representative from San Francisco said about this particular DREAMer, “In another assault on our values in the past week we had witnessed ICE raids across our nation targeting parents, students and a DACA-protected DREAMer. We talked about some of this yesterday with their members,” she said.

The left is led by Nancy Pelosi and she continually conflates legal immigration and illegal immigration. In early February, she said “immigrants who bring their courage and dreams to the United States make “America more American.” It was in the context of defending sanctuary cities.

A case could be made that the teen gangbangers in MS-13 are DREAMers. Most of them are coming here as teenagers and fit the qualifications which, for Democrats, is simply age.

The left also demands we not deport “breadwinners” and break up families. At the end of January, during an interview with CNN’s Alisyn Camerota, New York City Mayor de Blasio answered questions about illegal sanctuary cities. The NYC mayor implied that the city will not cooperate in the deportation of thieves who don’t use violence because they might be the “breadwinners” of their families.  He also thinks drug dealing is a non-deportable crime.

We could oblige by sending the felons’ families home with them.

Sanctuary cities like New York City are bases of operation for transnational crime. Most of the worst crimes emanate from sanctuary cities. Terrorism is also a concern.

A U.S. Southern Command intelligence report warns that Sunni Muslim extremists [ISIS are Sunni] are infiltrating the US freely from the southern border.

They are coming in with illegal alien smugglers from South America.

“Networks that specialize in smuggling individuals from regions of terrorist concern, mainly from the Afghanistan-Pakistan region, the Middle East, and East Africa, are indeed a concern for Southcom and other interagency security partners who support our country’s national security,” Army Col. Lisa A. Garcia, a Southcom spokeswoman, told the Washington Free Beacon.

“There are major hubs that serve as entry points into the region for migrants from those areas of concern attempting to enter the U.S. along our border with Mexico,” she said.

“In 2015, we saw a total of 331,000 migrants enter the southwestern border between the U.S. and Mexico, of that we estimate more than 30,000 of those were from countries of terrorist concern,” she said.

They are coming in from Syria, Eritrea, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Indonesia,  Malaysia and other countries with large numbers of jihadists.

Should these “immigrants” be given amnesty as well?

The left also wants amnesty for the families of DREAMers, thereby setting up endless   chain migration.

Another problem is the fact that the DREAMers have been cleared through an honor system of vetting.

In June, 2014, at a press conference from the Rio Grande Valley, Rep. Nancy Pelosi discussed her tour of a border holding facility and addressed the humanitarian crisis of thousands of unaccompanied minors flooding across the U.S.-Mexico border, which she called a “humanitarian opportunity.”

Pelosi explained, “We are all Americans — north and south in this hemisphere,” and urged America to see this as not a crisis but an opportunity “to be helpful.” She also said she wished she could simply “take home” the thousands of children temporarily housed in the overburdened facilities.

Pelosi wants the United States to consider all people in this Hemisphere “Americans” not eligible for deportation.

NBC News reported in August 2014 that Vice President Joe Biden not only used language that adopted all the illegal immigrant children coming across the southern border, he also made all Americans adoptive parents together with him, as Breitbart phrased it.

“These are not somebody else’s kids, these are our kids.”

Biden continued, “These are the children that lift the national ambitions of each of these countries aloft. And it is a tragedy for countries who are losing them and for us not being able to solve every one of their problems.”

Where does it end and how long can we afford, both financially and politically, to not have borders?

Do we begin or end with DREAMers? We need better definitions, parameters, and screening procedures before we give anyone amnesty. The idea of giving amnesty without proper screening and secure borders is bizarre.
