Gov. DeSantis Warns Republicans About Biden Impeachment

Host Kristen Welker asked Gov. Ron DeSantis his opinion of the impeachment inquiry into President Biden and if he thought it would backfire.

“So here’s what I think,” Gov. DeSantis said. “I think that the Biden family, the amount of money that’s flowed into that family to me is corrupt. I think that it’s not been explained in ways that make any sense. And so opening an inquiry based on the facts that we have, I think would be justifiable,” DeSantis said.

“However, I think they run the risk of doing an inquiry that doesn’t necessarily lead anywhere while they’ve been ignoring a lot of the problems that our voters are talking about,” he continued. “When I’m going through Iowa, Republican voters obviously are not fond of Joe Biden. Yes, they’re concerned about Hunter and all this money, but they’re more concerned about what’s happening at our border. They’re more concerned about what’s happening with the economy. They’re more concerned about federal agencies that are overstepping their bounds.”

The Florida governor warned Republicans to avoid using a Biden impeachment as a “trojan horse” that could take away from other issues and go nowhere.

It’s confusing as to why they aren’t impeaching Biden for the open borders.

What do you think of this next response? I wish he would condemn the unfairness of the weaponized DOJ.

DeSantis is absolutely right. there are more pressing issues right now.

One issue that no one seems to care about is the lack of any meaningful ELECTION REFORM legislation to combat Democrat voter fraud. Republicans should have been on this relentlessly for the last three years – but no. Why is that?

An impeachment will play right into the Democrat game plan. Biden is a liability and they know it. Impeach him, the Cackler gets to choose a VP. Whether she resigns or not, that person will be their nominee. Newsome, Hillary, Mike Obama. Pick one.

I support Desantis as the less risky general election candidate and his being a better administrator.

Despite others enthusiasm, rubbing elbows with the choir, Trump has certain risks in the general including his propensity to say and do stupid things, not evil things like Democrats, but things against interests, our interests. I am just being Trump about the matter. If someone puts the organization unnecessarily at risk, is handicapped ( I am not an affirmative action guy), his own fault or not, he does not learn or take due care, still subject to flattery, than it is time to retire him for a capable other.

Lets say Trump has 65% support of men (unfortunately not all likely voters) . He will need 40% plus support of women to allow for their greater voting percentage, Dems cheating etc. Trump has more of a visceral women problem not due to issues but to his personna, than DeSantis. I think DeSantis can achieve more of the women vote and hold onto men assuming Trumps men support is more engaged and philosophical than professional wrestling fans. That is the flavor of polls at this stage, it is more chest beating bruha than substantive serious thinking about the general.

I am tired of defensding Trump on the drama his mouth creates but I will soldier on if he is the nominee and concentrate in Dems. Democrats are that bad.

My view is that there are better candidates and administrators and not about Trump speaking truth when he does, it is some of his serious failures and the effect of his personna and if you do not think the latter is a factor in politics (happy for some, just the opposite for others) then, well just go your merry way and i will do the same and may the best man win.

And regarding the better man winning, Biden is our ace in the whole whether Trump is the nominee or DeSantis. Competence will defeat Biden but Trump’s propensities, his susceptibility of flattery, his aura of vendetta (justified but I just want somebody better at it who does not telegraph it) are unnecessarily risky coming into the general.

Vivek is Trump without the baggage. He’s my back-up candidate. DeSantis has the Bush RINO political machine behind him, which is not a plus.

So you admit Trump has baggage. Why would you not go with Trump without baggage? And if everyone has baggage the issue becomes which weighs more.

Catisout, I wonder what the weight of you baggage is. But who cares about pressed hyped baggage as long as our great President Trump works for us – which he always has and always will.

The who cares part is what we analyze now because if enough people do not care for Trump but we nominate him anyway we could lose even against Biden.

The Democrats have a machine and know how to use it.They probably get 40 plus percent just having a nominee, whoever it is. There are some fluid Dems, some fluid Republicans (I hope just a few drips) and a very fluid mushy middle. That no-party mushy group who tend to vote Democrat, may not like the Biden economy but are susceptible to scare mongering about the Republican nominee, whoever it is for whatever reason. DeSantis is more capable of dealing with that.

With RFK jr in the race people disgusted with Biden and disliking Trump have somewhere somewhat high profile to go. But it is unlikely RFK jr can win the general so the question becomes who does he help or hurt. A case can be made that RFK jr helps the Republican nominee (not necessarily Trump only). RFK jr candidacy will be downplayed by the dominant liberal media but they can be gone around and he has a devoted following. I think he could be a factor and even draw some otherwise Republican leaners upset over Trump’s project Warped Speed and all the ill that mRNA have brought.

I think the purest play for those people is avoiding putting Trump on the ballot. More Democrats might go for RFK jr in that circumstance otherwise with Trump as our nominee they arguably are more likely to hold tight with the Dem nominee, presumably still Biden. That is the fluid Dem component of the electorate and the larger group of mushy middle who tend Democrat. I do not think they are more likely to go Trump than a DeSantis or they would have voted for Trump more decisively in 2020.

I feel Trump is a riskier choice in the general for those reasons and more and that he is an inferior administrator who will just pick a different group of flatterers for his entourage and with all his distractions will not have as successful a term as an experienced governor like DeSantis who is less encumbered. Everything Trump does will be considered revenge seeking because he has pretty-much telegraphed as much, creating such an aura about himself. You may like it but who else cares is relevant if you want to defeat the Democrats.

I understand the vociferous Trump-only support wanting some sort of in your face catharsis regarding all the wrongs visited on Trump. It is the “we will show you by nominating him again” emotion and the campaign then becomes one of having to defend Trump.

Who cares? Anybody who wants to win the general — as a lot of people vote straight Democrat, and a lot of people do not like Trump. I guess they care, however wrong or ill-informed they are, but they vote.

DeSantis isn’t anything and unless you are willing to take on the swamp this country does not belong to the people. DeSantis is a swamper and everyone forgot to mention that he was seriously losing in FL until Trump backed him. He is backed by big money and the elitist who want nothing more than to control the world. Yes DeSantis served his country just like Crenshaw and many others, that doesn’t mean they will make a good or even average president.

Willing to take on the swamp? Trump was oblivious to it, manipulated by it and has shown no skill in defeating it any more than others have recognized and successfully done, including the education and medical establishments and law-fare creeps as DeSantis has taken on successfully. Yes against Biden Trump can win, but so can better administrators than Trump who can do a better job less encumbered with the advantage of not being a lame duck and a near octogenarian.

Trump has to win for the biggest and unspoken reason that all Americans need to understand. If Trump can’t win, it proves to the enemy, they can either stop or control any future president. We will never have another strong president again. The only electable presidents, moving forward, will know that they must get in line or be removed, because even a man as great as President Trump could not go against them. We will be left with only hollow platitudes and will continue watching, in real time, as our nation is destroyed from within

He’s a has-been benedict arnold. He was ridding on trumps coattails from day one. He figuratively stabbed trump in the back after trump gave him his full support.

At least Benedict Arnold wore the uniform and fought for his country. Trump could not be bothered as a young man.

Trump did not invent MAGA. The TEA Party days of rage are the essence of MAGA and that happened in 2009 -2010 when Trump was still singing Hillary’s praises. the TEA Party movement was gelling on the way to dominating the Republican Party grassroots participation, reflected in platforms when Trump was singing Romney’s praises. By 2016 it had achieved “sentimental” dominance while not clear operational control but Trump and others perceived its grassroots power and ran on that sentiment. Trump did not invent MAGA.

Predating Trump’s emergence by four years was Ron DeSantis whose service as a Congressman included being a founding member of the Freedom Caucus. DeSantis was MAGA four years before Trump descended the escalator.

DeSantis’ patriotic instincts includes 15 years active and Reserve service in the Navy JAG corp. Trump couldn’t be troubled in pursuit of his real estate dreams. If Trump was such a patriot why didn’t he join the Navy where it is unlikely his heal spur would be an actual deterrent or a Reserve or Guard component of something (back then they were mostly stateside billets), even the Army, whatever his disagreement with Vietnam — half of overseas duty in the Army was in Germany, his families old stomping ground.

But we thank Trump for his latter-day service to the country doing to a great extent what we hired him to do. Regrettably he was/is not a great administrator political strategist or defender of our policies. Conservatives largely had to do the cogent part for him including when not frustrated by him.

People talk of Trump’s giving up much wealth to be President (another side to that coin is considering it a billionaire’s plumb to be bought). As a middle class boy, Yale and Harvard law grad DeSantis could have embarked on a lucrative career out of school (real estate or whatever) but he chose military service and policy pursuits.

DeSantis stabbed no-one in the back, in fact he deserves the nomination
more than Trump as outlined above without mentioning his stellar performance as governor of a large state. Trump just keeps fumbling the ball with his behaviors and is always at risk of eating a live rat when on stage. A younger candidate, a veteran with a lovely young family, a proven track record of conservative successes he can actually defend on his feet effectively, one who is not so susceptible to flattery or concerned with seeking adulation is needed, one who does not sing his own praises regarding operation warped speed which only successfully immunized Big Pharma.

Blah Blah Blah DeSanctis is great, etc.
President Trump is the best thing to happen to America since General Washington. Your hero Ron is polling in single digits and has all the charisma of a punching bag. I get a real kick out of people who cling to the FL governor like he has a snowball’s chance in Hell of being nominated. He does not.

then why is he doing so poorly as a Presidental Canidate then if he is “MAGA” guy, what happened? DeSantis should have held off running until 2028. Endorsed Trump, Trump would have picked him as VP. Now DeSantis is no longer a viable Presidential candidate.
