Radical abortion activists and LGBT agitators (not normal LGBTs) are taking extremist views that are heading for a head-on collision with the First Amendment. In the end, it isn’t about abortion, which is now an argument for late-term abortion, or LGBT leftists who want religious people to be forced to condone and promote it. It’s really about the government’s role. Will government be allowed to order the people to violate their rights of conscience?
In a week from now, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments about gay marriage. The Supreme Court of the United States could strike down state laws defining marriage as between a man and a woman if they define marriage as a genderless union. They would then mandate that the Constitution require the states redefine marriage in that way. Genderless marriage would become a civil right.
The Constitution does not deal with marriage. It should be left to the states which is as close as the government gets to allowing the people to decide issues like this which come in direct conflict with rights of conscience. States that have passed gay marriage laws have done so because of judicial decisions by liberal judges, not because the people voted for it.
The movement to create genderless marriage, which would open the door to other types of marriages, is constantly reinventing itself. If this doesn’t work, there will be another tack taken. That’s happening now in D.C., our nation’s capitol.
Suddenly, not wanting to promote homosexual lifestyles is discrimination. It’s an extreme point of view.
The 1989 Armstrong Amendment exempts religious schools from being forced to violate their beliefs by “promoting, encouraging, or condoning any homosexual act, lifestyle, orientation, or belief.”
The LGBT agenda says human sexuality is a civil rights matter and refusing to accept, condone, and promote LGBTism is discrimination. That puts the agenda squarely in opposition to religious freedom to choose not to condone, and promote LGBT as a normal lifestyle.
DC Congressional Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton said that “[W]e are not going to have our [lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender] students stigmatized and denied by their own universities and schools.”
A new act, the Human Rights Amendment Act, eliminates the Armstrong Amendment, thus repealing the exemption given religious schools.
Religious schools in DC could be forced to sponsor clubs and events that support the LGBT agenda and that are in opposition to the values and religious tenets their schools teach.
In essence, the government will get to decide the values taught in religious schools. If it works for this issue, it can work for others. It could work for abortion, marriages of other categories of people, gender assignments, and any issue the courts decide are the province of government.
People who support these extreme agendas that intrude on freedom of religion are extremists themselves in many cases.
Eleanor Holmes Norton for example has been a socialist from her earliest days. She is a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, the Congressional Black Caucus, and in 2013, the Democratic Socialist Party of America listed her as a member. All the aforementioned represent extreme views.
We need to stop shying away from calling these people who and what they are out of fear we will look like extremists or conspiracy theorists. The facts are the facts.
Norton is a founding member of The National Conference of Black Lawyers and its allied organization, the National Lawyers Guild, both are the US affiliates of the International Association of Democratic Lawyers (IADL), a communist front group for the former Soviet union which is still run by communist and socialist lawyers and legal organizations.
The IADL described in a CIA Report on Soviet Propaganda Operations prepared at the request of the House Intelligence Committee and published by the committee in 1978, as “one of the most useful Communist front organizations at the service of the Soviet Communist Party,” according to KeyWiki.
DC Mayor Muriel Bowser is the one who introduced the bill. She is also a woman of the far-left, supporting such extreme, unconstitutional “rules” as Mr. Obama’s amnesty.
Extremists – statists – see religion as in competition with government for supremacy. They see the people as competition. They want control.
The people behind these movements are the extremists who are successful portraying their targets as the extremists, racists, nativists, and any other pejorative they can come up with. It’s masterful propaganda not dissimilar to that of previous statist nations that wreaked havoc and misery on the world.
DC has also passed a bill called the Reproductive Health Non-Discrimination Act, which will most likely force pro-life employers in DC, to require them to cover elective, surgical abortions in their health plans in direct conflict with their core beliefs.
These are people who believe in abortion up to the moment of birth. More than 80% of the country know this is murder.
Congress has acted in the latter case and is attempting to overturn the measure. They have not acted in the case of The Human Rights Amendment because they say it is clearly unconstitutional and will be overturned in the courts. They are leaving the religious institutions to the mercy of the courts in this case.
Eleanor Holmes Norton is a good example of what we are dealing with. She believes the people have no right to know everything the government does for example. She takes an extreme position on every issue and she doesn’t have a clue about the Constitution.
Will the Eleanor Holmes Nortons take over our country and our way of life?
