Governor Cuomo is “reimagining education” with Bill & Melinda Gates

As Dr. Fauci and left-wing politicians have said, we will never go back to normal. This is our ‘new normal.’ You should hate that phrase for what it will represent. Governor Cuomo gave us a glimpse of that with his latest plan involving Bill and Melinda Gates, who brought you Common Core.

He said we must not go back to the children sitting in a classroom with a teacher. That’s an old model we need to throw out. They are developing a blueprint to “reimagine education” into an even more rote, statist monolithic system than it already is.

They plan to bring together ‘experts’ to reimagine it all. How many teachers we wonder. They sure didn’t involve many teachers in planning out Common Core.

HE’S A GOOD TALKER

“The last few months have been an incredibly stressful time full of change, but we have to learn and grow from this situation and make sure we build our systems back better than they were before,” Cuomo said.

He continued, “One of the areas we can really learn from is education because the old model of our education system where everyone sits in a classroom is not going to work in the new normal. When we do reopen our schools let’s reimagine them for the future, and to do that we are collaborating with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and exploring smart, innovative education alternatives using all the new technology we have at our disposal.”

The problem, of course, is Cuomo is not smart and the Gates duo are narrow-minded leftists with way too much money.

Putting more technology into education is fine, but replacing the human-to-human contact is not fine. Yet, that is the strong suggestion here. No more classrooms with a teacher? Huge lecture rooms for the young?

The teachers’ unions, which I often don’t support, are right in their concerns.

NYSUT’s Andy Pallotta states:

“NYSUT believes in the education of the whole child. Remote learning, in any form, will never replace the important personal connection between teachers and their students that is built in the classroom and is a critical part of the teaching and learning process — which is why we’ve seen educators work so hard during this pandemic to maintain those connections through video chats, phone calls, and socially distant in-person meetings. If we want to reimagine education, let’s start with addressing the need for social workers, mental health counselors, school nurses, enriching arts courses, advanced courses, and smaller class sizes in school districts across the state. Let’s secure the federal funding and new state revenues through taxes on the ultrawealthy that can go toward addressing these needs. And let’s recognize educators as the experts they are by including them in these discussions about improving our public education system for every student.”

Jasmine Gripper, executive director of the public education advocacy organization Alliance for Quality Education, released the following statement:

“Governor Cuomo’s collaboration with the Gates Foundation for online education could be a threat to public schools as we know them. New York is enduring a crisis of future-altering proportions, and we must decide whether we will move forward into a better future, or one that deepens the inequity and injustices of our past.

Cuomo is currently killing the elderly in nursing homes. Would you like him to kill education too?

My daughter has been home-schooling for many years and it’s worked out quite well. I do remember the talk in the 60’s about the next step in education would be via television. That didn’t pan out so well back then and this proposal is just an extension of that.

I happened to see a math problem using, I guess, common core. It would take Ten+ Times the amount of time to complete a problem in that manner. The problem could easily be solved in your mind within 3 seconds. It was cumbersome in the extreme. From what I understood years ago the point was to eliminate memorization. So what’s wrong with that. Mental training is essential for higher learning.

To see the state of education and its decline look no further than the contents of the McGuffy readers. From what I’ve seen many in high school would have difficulty with those “grade school” books.

Public education IS necessary – otherwise a LOT of kids would receive no formal schooling. But, fortunately, this school closure is showing many people how they can educate their own kids – and those of their friends and neighbors via what is called HOME SCHOOLING. And THAT is a real threat to the Teacher’s Union – and to the politicians who rely on the Union’s campaign contribution to those that oppose Home Schooling.

You want REALLY well educated kids – make the classes ratio of teacher to student 1:2 or 1:3 or 4, in your home. Not 1:25-30 in a room full of misfits and trouble makers who cannot be managed due to regulations put on the teachers by management or government.

OK – we ALL agree HomeSchooling is NOT for everyone – but for those who can, and want to, your children will be WAY, WAY ahead of the public school student.

Proud Father and Grandfather of a whole bunch of homeschooled kids and now grandkids – all the way to college.

When I was in school we had TWO grades in the same room with ONE teacher. So, is it really the class structure that’s the problem.

What year and where? Did they allow corporate punishment? Did they allow the teacher to send the misfits to the Principals office or even home? If your school had two grades in one classroom (so did I at one time) you were in a very small system. The teachers probably knew your parents, and vice versa. THAT makes a BIG difference in necessary discipline.

Due to some super-intelligencia running some of our schools, if you are a certain color – you cannot be disciplined, because that particular color had been disciplined too much in the past so, to make up for that, now NO discipline. WHAAAAA>>>>>!@#$%^&^%$#@!@#
When PC takes over the classroom – your kids will stop learning. At least learning the good, necessary stuff.

Ask ANY… ANY Washington DC Congressperson who lives there – or ANY of the top bureaucrats…if ANY of their kids go to local public school.

THERE IS YOUR ANSWER……’Y’all little people go to public schools. Us ELITES surely won’t send OUR kids to those lousy places…”
