Gruber’s back in the news for lying! Can you believe it?
Jonathan Gruber and the White House lied and now there are 20,000 emails to back that statement up.
Jonathan Gruber, an MIT professor who became infamous for calling Americans stupid, was once a star witness for the government. He planned to testify before the Supreme Court of the United States that the government always intended to give federal subsidies despite what is written in the Obamacare law.
Gruber was later exposed as a liar by a blogger who released videos showing him mocking the American voter for falling for the lies. He followed up by recanting, saying he had little to do with the writing of Obamacare even though he received $400,000 for his work. The White House backed that up.
Both have been exposed again with the bombshell release of 20,000 emails which show he not only worked on Obamacare, he was intricately involved as he first claimed.
He originally claimed federal subsidies to lower insurance premiums were intended for all those who qualify, regardless of whether they get coverage through a state or federal exchange. The Obamacare bill which was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Obama bans the federal government from paying out subsidies.
The federal government contends that the government always meant to pay out federal subsidies if the states didn’t.
It doesn’t matter! That’s the language that was used to pass the bill! Resubmit the bill!
The lawsuits seek to hold the federal government to the legal language in the bill. The King vs. Burwell case contesting the subsidies will be decided any day.
The Wall Street Journal has just received the 20,000 pages of emails from the House Oversight Committee which covers messages by Mr. Gruber from January 2009 through March 2010.
The emails show Gruber frequently consulted with top Obama administration staffers and advisers in the White House and with HHS on Obamacare.
He was in touch with key advisers such as Peter Orszag, Jason Furman and Ezekiel Emanuel. He even played a key role in convincing Mary Landrieu to vote for Obamacare.
He also advised key officials on how to deal with the press when explaining Obamacare.
The White House lied too and had described Mr. Gruber as having a limited role in crafting the law after the damning videos came to light.
President Barack Obama in 2014 said Mr. Gruber was “some adviser who never worked on our staff.”
The Obamacare architect calls us all stupid in the following videos, two of many.
The MIT professor even lied under oath.
During an exchange with Republican Rep. Cynthia Lummis, Gruber said he did not “draft the legislation” and argued he was simply an adviser to the White House before Obamacare was pushed through in 2010. He said he was speaking “glibly.” On Fox News, he said it was a “speak-o.”
