We heard about Paul Ryan telling House Republicans in a private conference call in October that he would not defend Donald Trump, “not now, not in the future”. We heard about it, but now we have the audio.
Ryan’s comments were made after the Billy Bush tape was released.
The audio was exclusively obtained by Breitbart without any particulars.
“I am not going to defend Donald Trump, not now, not in the future,” Ryan can be heard saying on the tape. “I’m not going to be campaigning with him for the next 30 days.”
He made good on that promise.
“Look, you guys know I have real concerns with our nominee,” Ryan continued.
“I’m doing what I think is best for you, the members, not what’s best for me.” he said. “I’m going to focus my time on campaigning for House Republicans.”

He vowed to demonstrate the principles and values of the Republican Party as Trump’s do not fit with the Republican Party’s “principles and values.”
What are those principles and values? Mass migration, what?
Should he be the leader of the Republican Party? He has been wrong on almost everything, has not authored any substantial legislation in his roughly twenty years in Congress, and he folds on a dime.
Senator Rand Paul said Ryan gave Trump the impression that the new healthcare bill would pass. Who knows.
“The world is well aware of this history,” Ryan’s spokesman Brendan Buck said in a statement to Breitbart. “And obviously a lot has happened since then.”
Ryan did later explain that having Hillary as president would be far worse.
“But the last thing I want to do is to help Hillary Clinton get the presidency, and get Congress,” Ryan said. “Look, she’s a failed progressive. She’s running an abysmal campaign. I mean, it’s just—it’s amazing how easily she could be beaten. She will take this country in the wrong direction. And the last thing we need is four more years of Obama policies or two years of a Clinton presidency with a Democrat Congress. Could you imagine what that would look like? So the last thing we want to be doing is giving Hillary Clinton a blank check in Congress.”
When Trump won, Ryan reluctantly slithered to his side, especially when he realized Trump won without him and brought the House and Senate along with too. Trump, despite complaints about his imprecise and erratic comments, is brilliant and he ran a brilliant campaign. He’s also regarded as a decent person and a great negotiator by those who actually know him.
At least Ryan did move to Trump’s square on the board. I never understood the NeverTrumpers. While Trump wasn’t my choice, he wasn’t even my choice at all, he speaks to me on many levels. The alternative was a woman who would fight for hard-left principles and values. She’s also proven herself to be incompetent.
Trump has done more in two months than any president I can recall. One mainstream news source reported Trump is months behind in his cabinet picks. Trump’s only been in office for two months!
Congress, not Trump, is dragging its feet. The leadership is a little shaky.
