A reporter from the guardian bullied his way into a Fox News interview with GOP House candidate Greg Gianforte in Montana. When the reporter Ben Jacobs asked a question already asked, a very brief verbal exchange ended in Gianforte body slamming the reporter to the ground.

According to the reporter Ben Jacobs and multiple eyewitnesses, Gianforte grabbed the reporter by the throat and threw him to the ground — screaming “sick and tired of you guys … get the hell out of here.”

Gianforte’s campaign blamed the reporter. He did say the reporter was aggressively pushing the mic in his face.

Newspapers are all pulling their endorsements.

Gianforte could lose the race but most people have voted, because in Montana they vote by mail. More than 250,000 ballots had already been returned as of Tuesday. That’s roughly seven in 10 of all ballots election officials expect to be cast. (In the 2016 general election, just north of 507,000 votes were cast.)

It’s not at all clear that people will be all that upset with an annoying reporter being body slammed though no one would condone it.

If he does win, it’s questionable as to whether the GOP will seat him.

The shaken reporter, whose glasses were broken, called police and Gianforte has been charged with misdemeanor assault.
