Hypocritical Hack Andrew Cuomo Bans Non-Essential Travel to Cuba and Connecticut

Just kidding! He didn’t ban travel to Cuba and Connecticut, but he certainly should to be fair. Connecticut’s Religious Freedom Restoration act is even stricter than Indiana’s! As far as Cuba is concerned, he’s going there on a trade mission to give New York businesses a one-up on dealing with the Communist dictatorship that bans gay marriage.

Holier-Than-Thou Governor Andrew Cuomo, who has criminal investigations popping up all around him, announced that he is banning all “non-essential state travel to Indiana. He’s never one to miss a photo-op!

Cuomo will have to add Arkansas and 18 other states to that list.

Chuck Schumer signed the federal 1993 Religious Freedom Bill, the one Barack Obama and the Clintons signed. He needs to ostracize them.

Cuomo’s comments are self-serving:

“Today, I direct all agencies, departments, boards and commissions to immediately review all requests for state funded or state sponsored travel to the State of Indiana and to bar any such publicly funded travel that is not essential to the enforcement of state law or public health and safety. The ban on publicly funded travel shall take effect immediately,” his statement read.

“New York State has been, and will continue to be, a leader in ensuring that all LGBT persons enjoy full and equal civil rights. With this action, we stand by our LGBT family members, friends and colleagues to ensure that their rights are respected.”

Cuomo made his statements while he’s in the process of planning a state trip to Cuba.

Republican State Party chair Ed Cox didn’t think much of the hack’s grandstanding.

“He can cancel his upcoming trip to Cuba, where gay marriage is illegal [and] political dissidents are imprisoned and tortured,” Cox said. “Or he can admit that both moves are political stunts meant to bolster his national profile with no grounding in reality or substance.”

Human Rights Watch states that Cuba has no freedom of speech, anyone who speaks against the government is imprisoned. Cubans can’t even travel freely. The right to travel within and outside Cuba is restricted.

“The Cuban government continues to repress individuals and groups who criticize the government or call for basic human rights. Officials employ a range of tactics to punish dissent and instill fear in the public, including beatings, public acts of shaming, termination of employment, and threats of long-term imprisonment. Short-term arbitrary arrests have increased dramatically in recent years and routinely prevent human rights defenders, independent journalists, and others from gathering or moving about freely.”

All that doesn’t matter one iota to a hypocrite.

The left is now nit-picking minor differences in Indiana law from other laws that supposedly makes their law somehow egregious. It’s a straw man.

Liberals and leftists say Indiana’s law protects businesses not individuals. Indiana’s governor said the law would be clarified to deal with that.

Courts are dealing with it now when cases come up and they have always found in favor of gays. In fact, the courts are punitive and statist in their decisions. Leftists pick their victims beforehand for these lawsuits. It’s a little sick.
