Iran Fires on Singapore Tanker in International Waters

Iranian naval vessels have fired on a Singapore-flagged tanker that refused to surrender. Iran will not use the courts to settle agreements, they will seize ships and kidnap the passengers of any nation with whom they have a disagreement. The message of course is that they are taking over the Gulf.

The attack was timed with Obama’s summit with Arab leaders from the region.

U.S. officials, speaking to Reuters on condition of anonymity, said five Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy ships approached the Alpine Eternity oil products tanker at about noon (0800 GMT), prompting the ship to flee to safety in United Arab Emirates’ waters.

Iran attempted to seize the tanker in international waters to settle a dispute over damage to an Iranian oil rig.

This is the second time they’ve done this. Last month they seized a Marshall Islands ship and held them for ransom. The U.S. has ships in the region but they are not protecting commerce in the Gulf.

Iran has sent a ship laden with alleged “humanitarian” supplies to Yemen and they have threatened any nation that would try and inspect their cargo. The ship is currently in transit, undoubtedly with more than humanitarian supplies.

Barack Obama made it clear that he will do nothing to stop Iranian ships and has emboldened them. We no longer escort British ships and when the Marshall Islands ship was taken, Obama consulted with attorneys who said the U.S. is not obligated to protect their ships.

State Department spokesman Jim Rathke was asked about the hijacking of the ship. He wouldn’t even call it a hijacking or anything for that matter.

This is the exchange with the reporter.

Reporter: What do you consider the Iranian act? Is it an act of piracy, act of violence?

Rathke: Again, I’m — this I think is underway. I’m not going to apply an adjective to it right now. We are following the situation very carefully, but I’m not going to…

Reporter: But do you condemn it?

Rathke: Well, again, we’re gathering more information. I don’t have further reaction at this point.

Col. Warren weakly called the Iranian gunfire “inappropriate.”

If you think this is bad, wait until the Iran nuclear deal is signed.

We are protecting nothing. Obama never does anything about anything. Obama is negotiating at a table and Iran is taking over the region.
