Julian Assange, the Wikileaks founder, told US congressman Dana Rohrabacher that he can prove Russia had nothing to do with the DNC leaks, reports Circa News and the hill.

Rohrabacher was described by the hill as friendly to the Russians. The hill didn’t mention this, but Rohrabacher has said he just doesn’t want to go to war with them.

After a three hour meeting at the Ecuadoran embassy, the California congressman said, “Our three-hour meeting covered a wide array of issues, including the WikiLeaks exposure of the DNC [Democratic National Committee] emails during last year’s presidential election,” Rohrabacher said,  “Julian emphatically stated that the Russians were not involved in the hacking or disclosure of those emails.”

For the first time, Assange, who has been hold up in the embassy for 7 years, is interested in talking to US authorities.

Speaking of the information he says he obtained from Assange, Rohrabacher told the Register it would have “an earth-shattering political impact. It wouldn’t be so important if Democrats hadn’t focused so inordinately on the Russians. Democrats are creating a total upheaval over this.”

“I have some information to give the president before I give information to anyone else,” he added.

Some believe Assange should be tried for treason and is a Russian spy. Does the US have an obligation to find out what he knows and offer him a deal if he has something substantive to offer?
