Update: Kyle Vass is an investigative reporter for Dragline, powered by the ACLU. He said sex-for-favors stories are traveling the Internet, linking the judge without any sources.
This is the basis of the stories: Allegedly, Judge Mullins was sleeping with Sheriff Stines’s 17-year-old daughter. According to people outside chambers during the shooting, the sheriff yelled, “YOU F**KED MY DAUGHTER,” before shooting and killing Judge Mullins.
Vass is correct: there are no sources, but it is spreading. People need to be very leery of believing anything without sources.
ORIGINAL STORY
A local sheriff shot and killed a district judge inside a courthouse in Kentucky on Thursday, according to police.
Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stines allegedly killed Judge Kevin Mullins, 54, in his chambers following an argument, Kentucky State Police spokesman Matt Gayheart said Thursday night. Mullins was shot multiple times, Gayheart said.
Sheriff Stines reportedly walked out with his hands up and surrendered to police. He was handcuffed in the courthouse foyer.
Stines was arrested at the scene without incident after officers arrived, police said. He has been charged with one count of murder in the first degree.
Police did not reveal a motive or the nature of the argument that led to the shooting.
“We’re still trying to get answers to what led up to the actual shooting itself and the moments prior to the shooting,” Kentucky police state trooper Matt Gayheart said.
“We All Know Each Other”
Matt Butler, commonwealth’s attorney for Letcher County, will be recusing himself from the sheriff’s prosecution because his wife is the sister of Mullins’ wife, Butler said in a statement Thursday evening.
He described the sheriff and the judge as “two men that I have worked with for seventeen years and loved like brothers.”
“We all know each other here. For example, anyone from Letcher County would tell you that Judge Mullins and I married a pair of sisters and that we have children who are first cousins but act like siblings,” Butler said.
“Please pray for Judge Mullins’ family and my children. Ian and Ivy have cried and cried and begged to see their uncle,” he added. “My community is completely devastated.”

Is he running for president?
*IF* true, can’t blame the sheriff.
Damn shame it wasn’t over revelations about the border invasion or the complete and total corruption of Washington and every thing they touch downstream.
If the rumors prove correct I think temporary insanity works for me.I know things have changed a lot over the years but 54 over 17 and a judge with power and standing in the community . But better if it could have been brought into the open tried and hung but that would never happen now days
If true, I hope no one finds him guilty on that jury.
Typical headline with no details.
