Melissa Harris-Perry Won’t Be MSNBC’s “Token Mammy” No More

Melissa Harris Perry

Melissa Harris-Perry will no longer be MSNBC’s “token mammy” or their “tool” or their “brown bobblehead”. She’s moving on in a huff.

MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry, who has a show of the same name, uses her time on air to accuse everyone and even things of racism. Words like “hard worker” are racist to Ms. Harris-Perry because the phrase demeans slaves and poor mothers. She continues to worry about the Fugitive Slave Act as if it were yesterday.

That appears to be coming to an end after her complaints about preemptions of her show brought out her usual racial paranoia. She walked off her show Saturday morning and instead of the producers crumbling at her little race-obsessed feet, they decided to cut ties.

Harris-Perry refused to appear on her program Saturday morning, telling her co-workers in an email that she felt “worthless” to the NBC-owned network. “I will not be used as a tool for their purposes,” wrote the black Harris-Perry. “I am not a token, mammy or little brown bobble head. I am not owned by [NBC executives] or MSNBC. I love our show. I want it back.”

Since race is all she thinks about, she insinuated MSNBC has racial ill

She toned it down a bit later. “I don’t know if there is a personal racial component,” she said. “I don’t think anyone is doing something mean to me because I’m a black person.”

The network is moving towards more on the spot news coverage during the day to improve their ratings which run poorly against CNN and Fox News. A few of the hosts are getting the boot or are being relegated to dead times on the weekend. Al Sharpton gets up with the roosters on Sunday for his show.

Ms. Harris-Perry shocked the network when she went public and was the author of her own demise as they now have entered into negotiations for her peaceful exit at a most opportune time. They wanted to get rid of her anyway.

We will all miss her fun quotes like the time she said using the word “Obamacare” is like the “n” word or when she said kids don’t belong to their families, they belong to the communities.

Then there was that delightful comment about GITMO detainees being treated like slaves.

She took the words right out of your mouth I bet.

Ms. Melissa took joy in mocking Mitt Romney for having black grandchildren.

Most notable was her love of taxes.

“Taxes are how we all do our part, but that’s part of the problem, not everyone does seem to be paying their dues. …

“The thing that carries me through the mid-April tax madness is, honestly, a democratic spirit, the belief that we’re all in it together. …

Paying into the collective pot is part of our duty as citizens.”

A noble tax-paying citizen until she wasn’t.

In April of 2015 we learned that MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry and her husband are in trouble with the IRS, owing $70,000 in back taxes.

From wearing tampon earrings on air to protest portions of a Texas abortion bill to once saying that arson and looting, though illegal, are not violence, Melissa Harris-Perry has brought laughter into American homes as MSNBC’s most certifiable.

She will be sorely missed.
