My Memorial Day Note to a Vietnam Vet Gets a Humbling, Uplifting Response

Just before Memorial Day, I sent an email to an old friend of mine, “Thank you for your service.” He served in Vietnam and shared a point on patrol.

Sadly, like so many other vets who returned during that time, my buddy wasn’t shown the proper appreciation for his sacrifices.  Nonetheless, he finished his service by being part of the solemn “Folded Flag Ceremony.”

His response to my note was, “Thank you.  I served proudly for this great country.”

We’re blessed as a nation that he, along with millions of other patriots, have done the same.

The Main Stream Media is who brainwashed people into hating Vietnam veterans.

The MSM agreed with Jane Fonda if you know what I mean.

It was very dishonest reporting only showing one side.

I was in High School when they came home; I thought how disgraceful they were treated and how anyone in their right mind could be so ungrateful and disrespectful! They had no right to act like the ignorant pieces of garbage they were, no matter what you thought of the war, they were not responsible for it!

Vietnam Veterans were, all too often, treated poorly upon their return home. It was a disgrace, and a stain on the memories of those who never made it back to their loved ones.
