President Obama admitted in an NPR interview Tuesday morning that Iran will end up with the bomb in the end.
“What is a more relevant fear would be that in Year 13, 14, 15, they have advanced centrifuges that enrich uranium fairly rapidly, and at that point, the breakout times would have shrunk almost down to zero,” Obama said.
Under the terms of the deal, Iran’s breakout time would be expanded from the present two to three months to at least a year. That deal would only last for 10 years when the terms would phase out.
Although Obama acknowledged that Iran’s breakout time could shrink, he said we’d have insight because of inspections. [In the past, Iran has not allowed the inspections. They’ve delayed, lied and distracted.]
He’s kicking the can down the road after allowing Iran to become a nuclear threshold state.
That’s some admission.
Both Secretary of State John Kerry and Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz have been saying this nuclear deal is a forever deal. They had to know that wasn’t true at the time they said it.
Remember when Obama said Iran will never be allowed to develop a nuclear deal.
A desperate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is hoping he can change Obama’s inevitable outcome by reaching out to France.
Israel’s Strategic Affairs Minister Yuval Steinitz is flying to Paris to meet with French officials. They are the most reluctant of the P5+1.
Former Ambassador Bolton reacted on Tuesday morning.
The Ambassador wonders if there is even a deal given the conflicting statements by the U.S. and Iran, but “the biggest mistake the Obama administration made was allowing Iran to have any involvement in the nuclear fuel cycle at all,” Bolton said.
“It’s a fatal mistake”.
“What the administration has put out indicates a substantial nuclear capability. Unless they can say 100%, they know all of Iran’s activity in the nuclear weapons area, it’s a fatal blow. Unless we know everything, the details don’t make any difference if there are centrifuges buried in a mountain somewhere,” he said.
Bolton reminded us that the regime has sought nuclear weapons for thirty years and have continually lied.
Bolton agrees with Obama. At best, the deal only delays Iran from getting the weapon.
