Obama’s Racial Segregation Initiative, “My Brother’s Keeper”

Due to inclement weather, Mr. Obama canceled a speech Thursday to explain his new initiative called “My Brother’s Keeper.” The program is intended to persuade private companies to set up mentorships for young black men, help to improve the educational experience of young black men, and to enhance hiring opportunities for black youth.

This is an affirmative action program, despite the fact that such programs were struck down by the Supreme Court of the United States.

Finally, the initiative will interfere in school disciplinary policies to ensure fewer black youths are disciplined.

President Obama referenced it in his January State of the Union speech. He is attempting to garner commitments from “foundations, businesses and community groups to help young minority men improve their employment opportunities and intervene before some of them get sucked into the criminal justice system.”

According to The Washington Post, an administration official said the “My Brother’s Keeper” effort will consist of two main parts.

First, the official said, businesses and foundations will join together to test strategies aimed at “making sure children arrive at school ready to learn and reducing negative interactions with the criminal justice system.”

Second, Obama will launch an internal administration effort to more rigorously evaluate what programs work best at helping young minority males. The Education and Justice departments, for example, recently updated guidelines provided to school districts on the most effective disciplinary policies.

In the area of discipline, Obama plans to double down on what Eric Holder outlined in mid-January. At the time, Holder said that zero tolerance policies in schools were wrong. Unfortunately, he didn’t leave it at that. He brought race into it and stated that the numbers of minority students being disciplined are too high. He also leveled a threat that discipline of minorities by schools can be investigated by the DOJ and the Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights.

From the Holder Memorandum:

“The U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Justice (Departments) are issuing this guidance to assist public elementary and secondary schools in meeting their obligations under Federal law to administer student discipline without discriminating on the basis of race, color, or national origin.”

Then there was the threat from the same memo:

“The Departments [the Departments of Education, Office of Civil Rights, and the DOJ] initiate investigations of student discipline policies and practices at particular schools based on complaints the Departments receive from students, parents, community members, and others about possible racial discrimination in student discipline.”

Schools will be under the heavy hand of the government when meting out discipline. It’s a government social engineering approach which leave schools afraid to discipline black youths, hardly a way to improve bad behavior.

This initiative sounds like another Executive Order he signed two years ago. In July 2012, Mr. Obama issued the “White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans Executive Order” that mandated a department be formed within the Department of Education for African-American education.

The purpose of the order was allegedly to “strengthen the Nation by improving educational outcomes for African Americans of all ages; and help ensure that African Americans receive a complete and competitive education that prepares them for college, a satisfying career, and productive citizenship.”

It is actually a segregation program and it’s redundant. There are departments already set up to handle the same problems. He is setting race relations back by singling blacks out.

On the department‘s website, they tout their successes: establishing more school loan programs, increasing pre-school funding, raising the minimum wage, creating economically-sustainable neighborhoods, expanding healthcare access, protecting civil rights and promoting criminal justice.

There will be nothing new in My Brother’s Keeper except it will cost more money.

My Brother’s Keeper promises to be more of the same – more segregation, more affirmative action and more ineffective big government.

In April 2012, at a campaign speech in Vermont, Mr. Obama said “I hear politicians talking about values in an election year. I hear a lot about that. Let me tell you about values,” Obama said. “Hard work, personal responsibility — those are values. But looking out for one another. That’s a value. The idea that we’re all in this together. I am my brother’s keeper. I am my sister’s keeper. That’s a value.”

He doesn’t mean he will take care of his brother, He means you will.
