The Democrats got everything they want in the CR-debt deal and the Republicans got something that was already in the Obamacare bill – people’s incomes must be verified before they can get Obamacare subsidies to help pay their insurance premiums.
Sen. Chuck Schumer summed it up this way:
“It’s, you know, it is, frankly, a bit of a fig leaf, which we were happy to give, but that was not a negotiation. That was not what Ted Cruz and the others started to demand that we give them.”
Our country has no debt ceiling. It has been suspended without a dollar amount – the sky is the limit. The administration has until February 7th to rack up whatever bills suits them.
The McConnell-Reid ‘deal’ allows sequester spending to increase by 19 billion because they froze it at a higher level than the cap of $967 billion, according to the Daily Caller.
Federal workers will get back pay and a 1% raise in another nod to the union.
Additional pork barrel spending was added to the CR. Pelosi wants to know why we are talking about it though, after all she is not asking anyone to vote on it.
“What difference does it make? Why are we talking about this? We’re talking about a bill that as I said last night, I’m not asking anybody to vote for this bill on the merits,” Pelosi said.
The bill includes funds to fix the flooded roads in Colorado – great. There is $3 million for a civil liberties oversight board – totally unnecessary. Apparently The very rich widow of Sen. Frank Lautenberg gets a chunk of it, a death benefit entitlement. The rich widow is also entitled and she’s TAKING IT.
The Republicans got an agreement that Obama’s congressional parrots would talk to them. Obama and his democratic allies in the Congress insist that tax hikes – what else – be part of any deal on the debt ceiling. They want that known upfront.
On Wednesday, Jay Carney, Obama’s spokes-liar said:
‘But he firmly believes that balance [taxes], when it comes to further reducing our deficits and building on the work that has been done over these past four years in which we have reduced our deficits…by half, we need to continue to take a balanced approach so that no sector of society unfairly has to bear the brunt of that project. That’s always been his position and it will be his position moving forward.’
Obamacare is not about providing healthcare to those in need, it’s about establishing a caste system that redistributes the wealth from the self-reliant to the non-self-reliant with reparations for minorities.
Take the Native-Americans for example.
American Indians and Alaskan natives do not have to pay a co-pay or other cost sharing expenses under Obamacare if they make less than 300% of the poverty level (roughly $83,000 for a family of four), but the best part is they don’t have to PROVE they are Indians! Indians, fake or not, will pay zero on physician office visits, preventive services and outpatient services. They are also exempt from the individual mandate.
The Oneida tribe alone raised $2.5 million for Obama’s election fund. Their vote was bought and paid for.
How long do I have to provide taxpayer money to grant these favors to people who were wronged long before I lived?
Don’t get me wrong. I want the American Indians to be helped. There are serious social issues in tribes and many of the problems are caused by over a hundred years of bad policy. Mr. Obama’s goal, however, is to buy votes, not to sincerely help, and that is a problem.
Mr. Obama is a victim. He is the innocent bystander victimized by the Republicans, Bush, whites, Catholics, Conservative blacks, the Tea Party, Fox News, and so many others. Nothing is his fault. The same holds for blacks, American Indians, LGBT’s, unions, Muslims and illegal aliens and anyone else he can give reparations to and whose votes he can buy – they’re victims too.
Obama’s Big Three networks – ABC, NBC, CBS – blamed Republicans for the shutdown with 41 stories blaming them and 0 blaming Obama.
The President who violates the Separation of Powers continuously and who wants no holds barred spending and taxing is willing to work with Republicans as long as they do what he wants 100% of the time. He won’t negotiate because he won control of the presidency and the Senate. He refuses to acknowledge the power and the rights of the House who were voted in to fight what he is pushing on the American public.
On Thursday, he had the unmitigated gall to say the Founding Fathers wouldn’t be happy with them [Republicans]:
“Let’s work together to make government work better, instead of treating it like an enemy or purposely making it work worse,” Obama said.
“That’s not what the founders of this nation envisioned when they gave us the gift of self-government.
“You don’t like a particular policy or a particular president? Then argue for your position. Go out there and win an election. Push to change it. But don’t break it. Don’t break what our That’s not being faithful to what this country’s about.”
They did win an election – they won the House.
No one really believed Ted Cruz’ plan would work though there was always hope, but some people did believe it was a good bargaining point. The Republicans don’t bargain thanks to people like John McCain, Peter King, and Mitch McConnell who want to surrender completely after elections. I don’t care that they disagreed with Ted Cruz’ approach, I don’t care that they gave in on this deal, I do care that they ripped their colleagues apart publicly.
McCain has about 14 followers in the Senate who do his bidding, such is the power of Congress. This is what Congress is about. Cruz and Lee dared do what their constituents voting them into office wanted them to do. They bucked the system. For that, they are called wacko birds.
“We started this on a fool’s errand, convincing so many millions of Americans and our supporters that we could defund Obamacare,” McCain said.
While McCain didn’t name names, he faulted members of Congress — “tea partiers specifically” — for wrongly telling “millions of Americans” that Obamacare can be defunded.
McCain doesn’t seem to understand that he too has an obligation to work with members of his party. He needs to do more than pontificate.
McCain, ever the one to yell ‘surrender’ called out Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) for his anti-Obamacare speech, and said “the people spoke” when they reelected President Barack Obama in 2012. This is the same weak-kneed person who wouldn’t mention Obama’s relationship with the anti-America crusader Rev. Wright or the domestic terrorist Bill Ayers during the 2008 election. That went well, didn’t it!
The Democrats think that all that matters is taxing us more so they can spend more on their redistribution of wealth entitlement state, which, coincidentally, follows a Marxist model.
Obama will now throw himself into legalizing tens of millions of illegals. There will be no pushback and we will end up with open borders and more dependents.
We owe $17 trillion and there is no plan to stop spending. Mr. Obama hopes to continue the trend. Does anyone have a problem with this besides some Tea Party people who support limited government, traditional values, self-reliance, and freedom. They are radical, aren’t they?
Mr. Obama won and the American people lost big.
