Democratic U.S. Sen. Gary Peters sent a letter to the White House on Wednesday asking that the U.S. accept no fewer than 100,000 refugees fleeing bloodshed from Syria and Iraq in the coming years, including 30,000 during the next fiscal year.
Earlier this month, U.S. Reps. John Conyers of Detroit, Debbie Dingell of Dearborn, Dan Kildee of Flint Township and Sander Levin of Royal Oak were among some 70 members of the House calling for the U.S. to admit 200,000 global refugees, including 100,000 Syrian refugees, in 2016.
The problem of course is that we can’t screen them. Syria is basically a failed state and we do not have eyes and ears on the ground. There is no way to know who these “refugees” are.
Judicial Watch has discovered that the administration let 1,519 “inadmissible” foreigners embroiled in terrorism into the U.S. last year because the crimes were committed “while under duress.”
The U.S. administration – and that includes Hillary Clinton – can’t compromise national security enough. Open borders aren’t sufficient. They have to admit terrorists.
Longwar Journal found a few paragraphs buried at the end of an Al Jazeera story describing the tension that exists between the Free Syrian Army and an al Qaeda affiliate in which a leader of ISIS claimed that the Free Syrian Army (FSA) (our allies) is selling weapons to ISIS.
The CIA has been vetting those they sell arms to but maybe they even the CIA can’t vet them.
We know that ISIS has U.S. weapons. Of that there is no doubt. IJ Review reported in July, 2013 that arms shipments from Croatia that were meant for the Free Syrian Army ended up in the hands of ISIS. The weapons were either captured, or acquired by former FSA fighters as they joined ISIS, the author said, but there is another possibility. Perhaps the FSA sold them to ISIS. Any Syrian working with the U.S. has a target on their back and many have given up. Certainly Russia’s and Iran’s assault which began this week will cause more to join ISIS or flee.
The Free Syrian Army has been much more concerned about fighting al-Assad than ISIS and have fought alongside ISIS and al-Nusra (al Qaeda) because they want to destroy Assad much more than ISIS.
The time to help the Syrians was before they were dispirited and before the terrorists from foreign lands moved into Syria and took control of the civil war.
This entire Syrian situation is a horrific mess. It’s one thing when Obama damages U.S. domestic affairs but when he creates a situation in which our Air Force and several thousand U.S. soldiers on the ground are in the firing line of ISIS fighters, Assad military, and Russian jets, it’s quite another. Worse yet, his confused and rudderless policies are presenting an existential threat to the U.S. and her allies.
We don’t even know who the enemy is.
At first, Obama opposed arming the FSA, then he mocked them, then he armed them and made them our boots on the ground in the middle of a Shiite-Sunni civil war.
Barack Obama does have a solution though. He wants to bring hundreds of thousands of them into the U.S. as refugees even though the intelligence agencies and the FBI have said they can’t be properly screened.
These could be our refugees in training.
Feckless doesn’t even begin to cover it.
