Maxine Waters was asked about the settlements of sexual harassment claims by Bill O’Reilly and Fox News. As is the custom in the Democratic Party, she said most hyperbolically that “Bill O’Reilly needs to go to jail.
Does he get a trial first?
The left-wing wants Fox News’s leading commentator Bill O’Reilly off the air and they think they have found exactly the right issue to get the job done. They are churning out hit pieces on O’Reilly and there is no hyperbolic statement that is too wild. O’Reilly is number one on cable and has been for more than a decade.
Is the left suddenly concerned about these sexual harassment cases or are they trying to silence the right once and for all?
O’Reilly will weather this. The left has been trying to destroy Rush Limbaugh for years for the same reason they demonize Fox News. They hope to level a devastating blow to Fox.
Recently, the story of O’Reilly losing custody of his children hit the papers though it’s a nearly year old story. It didn’t attract much attention.
The left then went to more old news that they are making new again. Over the course of 15 years, O’Reilly has been accused of five instances of making inappropriate, possibly lewd comments to women in his employ. Two of the cases, with Juliet Huddy and Laurie Dhue, were settled this year.

O’Reilly said in a statement that while he “denies the merits of these claims, Mr. O’Reilly has resolved those he regarded as his personal responsibility.”
Bill paid $9 million of the $13 million in settlements.
“Just like other prominent and controversial people, I’m vulnerable to lawsuits from individuals who want me to pay them to avoid negative publicity,” he said. “But most importantly, I’m a father who cares deeply for my children and who would do anything to avoid hurting them in any way. And so I have put to rest any controversies to spare my children.”
O’Reilly earns about $18 million a year and has been a big draw for advertisers with the highest rated show on cable.
When the news of the more than two-hundred million dollars in ad revenue he draws each year was publicized, the leftist boycotters sent out their botnets. There is now a growing list of companies insisting their ads be pulled from his show.

President Trump supported Bill O’Reilly when asked, calling him a “good person”. That has generated two of the allegedly harassed women to condemn the President’s comments. That will be good for another day or two of attacks.
