After lying to the American people to sell the Iranian deal while knowing that Iran knew they were lying, and after acting as their agent against the EU during negotiations, Swiftboat John Kerry is demanding that people do business with them. He’s their sales rep. It’s the right thing to do, he believes. This is who we are now.
The pitiful excuse for a secretary of state said businesses around the world are avoiding doing business with Iran and using the US as an excuse. Iran is “open for business”, he proudly announced.
Kerry, ahead of a meeting on Iran with European bankers, said it was unfair and inaccurate for businesses to blame U.S. sanctions for their decision to stay away.
“If they don’t want to do business or they don’t see a good business deal, they shouldn’t say, ‘Oh, we can’t do it because of the United States,'” Kerry told reporters in London. “We sometimes get used as an excuse in this process.”
He doesn’t care if they use the US as an excuse, he’s looking for a reason to push Iran’s business interests.
Some specific Iranian entities, including companies associated with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, are still off-limits under sanctions punishing Iran for other behavior. And the U.S. maintains a prohibition on Iran accessing the American financial system or directly conducting transactions in U.S. dollars, fueling confusion and practical impediments given that international transactions routinely cross through the U.S. banking system.
“It’s just not as complicated as some people think,” said Kerry. They’re open for business.
Who in their right mind would want to do business with the Revolutionary Guards except Kerry and Obama? The money they make will go to their terrorism machine.
Asian and European governments and companies, especially banks, want to be sure that the US won’t punish them at some point.
The Iranian financial system is dated and Iran engages in terrorism and horrific human rights violations.
It’s not an unreasonable concern. The US has penalized banks for violating sanctions. Then there is the fact that many don’t know if Obama’s deal will survive the next election.
The US secretary of state, a complete idiot, is advocating for the economic success of a country that our own State Department says is the leading state sponsor of terrorism in the world.
Opponents of the nuclear deal on both sides of the political fence are outraged by Kerry’s and Obama’s pushing business in Iran.
Our tax dollars are funding the Treasury Department and the State Department to travel throughout the globe to explain to foreign countries and companies what’s permissible under the deal so they will do business with Iran.
“Iran has a right to the benefits of the agreement they signed up to,” Kerry said. “If people by confusion or misinterpretation or in some cases disinformation are being misled, it’s appropriate for us to try to clarify that.”
Remember when he said that some of the money we are giving them will go to terrorism? And now he’s drumming up business for them?
