President Trump said on Sunday that Alcatraz will be reopened to house the “most ruthless and violent criminals.” It sounds like we will have an American version of CECOT.
In a post on Truth Social, the President said he was instructing the Bureau of Prisons, Department of Justice, FBI, and Department of Homeland Security to reopen the notorious prison, which housed some of America’s most infamous criminals.
The prison, which closed 60 years ago due to its crumbling infrastructure and high maintenance costs, “will serve as a symbol of Law, Order, and JUSTICE,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social Sunday, later telling reporters it was “just an idea” he had as federal judges pushed to ensure deported migrants had due process.

REBUILD, AND OPEN ALCATRAZ! For too long, America has been plagued by vicious, violent, and repeat Criminal Offenders, the dregs of society, who will never contribute anything other than Misery and Suffering. When we were a more serious Nation, in times past, we did not hesitate to lock up the most dangerous criminals, and keep them far away from anyone they could harm. That’s the way it’s supposed to be.
No longer will we tolerate these Serial Offenders who spread filth, bloodshed, and mayhem on our streets. That is why, today, I am directing the Bureau of Prisons, together with the Department of Justice, FBI, and Homeland Security, to reopen a substantially enlarged and rebuilt ALCATRAZ, to house America’s most ruthless and violent Offenders. We will no longer be held hostage to criminals, thugs, and Judges that are afraid to do their job and allow us to remove criminals, who came into our Country illegally. The reopening of ALCATRAZ will serve as a symbol of Law, Order, and JUSTICE. We will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
Once a highly fortified military installation, Alcatraz was a “last resort” facility where the most dangerous and most unruly in other prisons were sent. It was virtually impossible to escape, despite numerous famous attempts.
The prison is in disrepair and might not be salvageable. We’ll see.

There aren’t enough prisons to lock up everyone that belongs there. Until we have a new solution that works we have no choice. The democrats say you have to get to the bad apples before they turn. Of course they failed because despite all their efforts they continually produce bad apples and release them back onto the street. In the 1980s there was a movie called the Running Man. During Roman times there were the gladiator games. The Chinese executed opium addicts. The Saudis behead criminals. In tribal times they used shunning and banishment. I’m not saying these are good options.
I’m saying there has to better way. Jesus said to repent and accept him as your lord and savior and you will be forgiven at least until the next time you screw up. You can see why Catholics have confession. So what’s the answer? Short of a redesign of our genome I’m not sure there is an answer other than to have faith in Jesus and following his teachings.
If it was closed because it costs too much to maintain and repair then I say we can’t afford to do it. Another thought, what happens if the wrong people gain control of our government?
Yet, I can see it as a good “scare tactic” for President Trump to use. But make sure the repairs don’t make it into a “free, luxury, island resort hotel with all the perks (further education, physical work out gyms, medical care) and other things for criminals that the average citizen can’t afford to have on average salaries! Who knows all the liberal senators could end up there using it as a cozy retirement home !
Oh boy, the Dems will be screaming at the sky again. Trump’s like, ‘Hey you want due process, I’ll give you due process.’ He terrifies them, while entertaining the rest of us who get him..lol
Our Marxist judges and Soros DA problem is much bigger than our prison capacity problem.
That is the unvarnished truth.
Put Soros and leftist judges in Alcatraz and they will no longer be a problem.
