The White House said Tuesday that President Donald Trump’s tariffs on imports from China might rise overnight to 104%. Beijing refuses to withdraw its retaliatory tariffs on U.S. exports.

“It was a mistake for China to retaliate. When America is punched, (the president) punches back harder,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said. “That’s why there will be 104% tariffs going into effect on China tonight at midnight,” she said during a presser.

Chinese goods were already set to be slapped with 54% tariffs. The figure combined a 20% previously imposed tariff and a 34% additional tariff on Chinese goods. This is in retaliation for the U.S.’s large trade deficit with China.

“Right now, we’ve received the instruction to prioritize our allies and our trading partners like Japan and Korea and others,” White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett said on Fox News.

China is bracing for a war of attrition. Manufacturers are warning about profits and scrambling to plan new overseas plants. Citing rising external risks, Citi cut its 2025 China GDP growth forecast to 4.2% from 4.7%.

Stock futures are going down.

Xi Jinping will “fight to the end.”

The American people pay the tariffs, not the Chinese.

After a bullet brushed his brain, has Xi’s instinctive reaction ever been to stand up, thrust his fist in the air, and shout, “FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!”?

Ah Trump, his kung fu so strong. Can’t wait to see the red chinese back in those blue pant suits and riding bicycles again. I won’t be satisfied until I hear Xi call him Uncle Trump. There is plenty of blame to go around for COVID here and China.

104% Chinese tariff. That’s sure going to hit CA’s Greasy Gasom Newsom hard. He so depends on regulating Chinese trade with the US, hammering truckers, shippers and making sweetheart deals that enriches him. He’s also big in prompting, promoting and encouraging the infant Chinese citizenship invasion that has become an industry in CA.

Any US company that is not already starting to make American made stuff, has missed the boat. We can make stuff here, China will lose this one. Alot of China’s income is from selling to us.

The deal with China to supply them with our methods and technology in order to supply us with goods was suicidal let alone evil. But short sighted execs could only see the fat profits to be made by circumventing US labor prices and laws. When you let someone else do your work for you, you lose the ability to defend yourself.
