President Trump is concerned about longtime farm and hospitality workers being forced out of the country because they are here illegally. He appears to be giving them amnesty. President Trump is pausing deportations on farms, the entire agriculture industry, hotel industry, and eateries (food industry). Tech seems immune also.
According to the New York Times, President Trump is telling Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials to largely pause raids and arrests in the agricultural industry, hotels and restaurants, according to an internal email and three U.S. officials with knowledge of the guidance.

The new guidance comes after protests in Los Angeles against the Trump administration’s immigration raids, including at farms and businesses. It also came as Mr. Trump made a rare concession this week that his crackdown was hurting American farmers and hospitality businesses.
The guidance was sent on Thursday in an email by a senior ICE official, Tatum King, to regional leaders of the ICE department that generally carries out criminal investigations, including work site operations, known as Homeland Security Investigations.
“Effective today, please hold on all work site enforcement investigations/operations on agriculture (including aquaculture and meat packing plants), restaurants and operating hotels,” he wrote in the message.
This looks like the end of mass deportations:
The email explained that investigations involving “human trafficking, money laundering, drug smuggling into these industries are OK.” But it said — crucially — that agents were not to make arrests of “noncriminal collaterals,” a reference to people who are undocumented but who are not known to have committed any crime.
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed the guidance.
“We will follow the president’s direction and continue to work to get the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens off of America’s streets,” Tricia McLaughlin, a department spokeswoman, said in a statement.
I am not sure how this longtime worker amnesty is going to work, but in the end, it will mean a one party country under totalitarian Democrats.
Amnesty = Totalitarianism
Allowing people to stay and work for years will mean eventual citizenship for sneaking into the country. There is only one party most will vote for because they will need the freebies. It will give Democrats a permanent electoral majority. Republicans will have no say under such a system which already exists in states like New York and California.
We should not want the entire country to look like California. Contact your representatives, contact President Trump on TruthSocial or Don Jr on X. Tell them what you think, politely of course. Being polite works.
Allowing farm and hospitality workers has already expanded to entire industries. It’s a door that will be very wide open. No one will self-deport. They’ll just temporarily work on a farm or in a hotel. Fold the farm workers into the H-2A guest workers program, and mass deport the rest.
It will be a disaster if President Trump does this. California was destroyed by President Reagan’s amnesty. He fell for the lies the Democrats told him.
In Trump’s case, it seems to be Secretary Rollins and some in Congress giving him terrible advice.

Trump’s reversal is WRONG, and will hurt MAGA big time. He is showing us, “let your rich friends in your industries complain and you won’t keep your word either.” What he should have done instead (from the beginning) is have a PLAN that is realistic and stick to it. He had the mandate with no thought out process. Now he’s hitting snags and backpedaling. Not good.
Unfortunately, though, the facts are, we DO NOT have infinite resources to remove 20 million illegals, so we have to focus resources on priorities. The priorities are 1) all crime-committing illegals, 2) all student troublemakers and protestors, and 3) all who have been here less than 5 years, which removed the unvetted and “paroled” brought in under Biden.
BUT IF WE CAN’T GET THEM OUT, WE STILL MUST KNOW WHO AND WHERE THEY ARE. We must push for registration with a deadline (September 1st). But compliance requires an incentive. And that incentive should be the offer of a 5-year temporary work visa if they meet certain qualifications, such as 1) have been here at least 5 years, 2) are fully self supporting, 3) have no criminal record and no participation in protests on American soil, 4) maintains health, life, and car insurance, 5) have their visa documentation (card or chip) on them at all times to show employers and ICE (if they get caught in a raid by ICE without their visa, they will be deported, 6) update registration once a year or with any changes in contact info or employment, 7) agree to apply for citizenship or return home within the 5 years, 6) pay a fine taken out monthly in withholding for 5 years.
Likewise, put a cap of percentage ratio of work visa illegals vs Americans and fine employers heavily if they don’t pay illegals their prevailing wage and benefits so they aren’t undercutting American wages. Also encourage employers to offer illegals assistance with paperwork and share costs of citizenship applications…offer it as a bonus for outstanding (merit based) work, not a benefit to all. The employer’s job is to help weed out illegals that will drain America and keep producers.

This is very disappointing and very sad.
If Trump does not follow through with mass deportion, then MAGA will quickly die. After amnesty was granted under Reagan, it turned into a disaster that ruined our public schools, and they never recovered. The illegals kept rolling into the country despite the promise by Reagan and Dems to halt it. I have numerous useless Democrat relatives who do not work full time or at all. They could be working in the cleaning, landscaping and daycare businesses, but they will not compete with illegal slave labor. If the slaves were deported and the free market system responded with higher wages, then lots of Americans would be employed and paying taxes.
I knew this mass deportation talk was nothing but bullshit. The same type of talk we heard when Trump would say of Hillary, “Lock her up”. It never happened and he had no intention of doing it. When you allow a guy to come here and pick your tomatoes, you also allow him to bring his family and get a whole host of freebees. Subsidized housing. Food. Schooling. Healthcare. Debit cards and who knows what else. It costs taxpayers a fortune. Will young whites not do manual labor? Probably not, for most of them. It is beneath them. Most are allergic to sweat. Most industries like the construction and landscaping businesses are overloaded with foreigners working for low wages, putting Americans out of work. If we need these foreigners here to do the work, make it a permanent guest worker program. Seasonal workers come and go home when their work is done. Their families do NOT come here.
