Candace Marie Claiborne, 60 years, an employee of the Office of Caucasus Affairs in the State Department, traded information – sold her soul – to the Chinese for money, iPhones, vacations and other gifts. The evidence of her spying with several co-conspirators is extensive and damning. The investigation continues.

Candace Marie Claiborne

An employee of the State Department since 1999, she and a relative, named as a co-conspirator, traded in U.S. secrets for at least five years, beginning in 2010 while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state. Maybe she learned some tricks from her “extremely careless” boss. The culture was obviously not good under Hillary.

She even kept a journal of her misdeeds.

This employee with Top Secret clearance is charged with “Obstructing an official proceeding and making false statements to the FBI.” Perhaps she will be charged with treason but she hasn’t been yet even though she labeled herself and a relative as spies. These charges alone, however, can put her away for up to 25 years.

An office management specialist, Claiborne was posted at the headquarters in Washington, as well as U.S. diplomatic posts in Beijing and Shanghai, along with posts in Baghdad and Khartoum, Sudan.

Think about that.

She and a male, a U.S. citizen, a relative of Claiborne’s – co-conspirator A – conspired with two Chinese intelligence agents woking for the Shanghai State Security Bureau, our enemies.

Arrested on March 28th, she appeared in the U.S. District Court of Washington D.C. on March 29th for arraignment. It has been relatively quiet in the media.

Acting Assistant Attorney General McCord in an announcement of her arrest and arraignment noted that “Claiborne used her position and her access to sensitive diplomatic data for personal profit. Pursuing those who imperil our national security for personal gain will remain a key priority of the National Security Division.”

According to the affidavit, the gifts and benefits included cash wired to Claiborne’s USAA account, an Apple iPhone and laptop computer, Chinese New Year’s gifts, meals, international travel and vacations, tuition at a Chinese fashion school, a fully furnished apartment, and a monthly stipend. Some of these gifts and benefits were provided directly to Claiborne, the affidavit alleges, while others were provided through a co-conspirator.

According to the affidavit, Claiborne noted in her journal that she could “Generate 20k in 1 year” working with one of the PRC agents, who, shortly after wiring $2,480 to Claiborne, tasked her with providing internal U.S. Government analyses on a U.S.-Sino Strategic Economic Dialogue that had just concluded.

Gifts listed below:

In March, she returned to the FBI office in Washington and acknowledged the relationship with the two Chinese intelligence officers, the complaint says. “Claiborne admitted to passing information to [the two Chinese agents], both orally and in writing but insisted she always provided unclassified information.”

The FBI knew about her in 2014 when she exposed herself to an FBI undercover agent, and the FBI had her journal by 2015. She wasn’t questioned until August, 2016 when she lied, denying contact with any foreign government while in China.

Still she was not arrested, not until she admitted what she had done in March of this year. Perhaps they were feeding her information to give to the Chinese or were spying on her. Who knows, but the reduced charges are interesting.

Mark Toner, speaking for State, said they vigorously pursue these cases. If so, why was she allowed to continue for years and only arrested when she confessed?

This is a clear case of classic espionage. It should be blasted across the front pages of every newspaper.

How many of these spies are there? It’s doubtful she’s the only one. Claiborne is among the hundreds of thousands of people who have access to all our metadata and can find it on any one of us by plugging in any of our signatures.

Intelligence, State, government agencies in general, are not filled with all good people and it isn’t only Russians spying.

The complaint below says that Claiborne once labeled the pair as “spies” to a co-conspirator in the case.

Looks to me like the State Dept knew or approved of this traitor’s spying. After all, crooked hillary had been selling our secrets to the Chicoms for years. So why not this low life?
The clinton foundation raked in millions from foreign governments, and NOT ONE democrat ever objected. I wonder how many “journalists” at ABC, CNN, NBC, NYT, the Compost, etc. are also on the receiving end of Chinese bribes?
