Donald Trump’s team is allegedly looking to change the way we receive information from the media. They are considering ways to allow the alternative media, radio hosts, and bloggers access to the White House’s press briefing room.

Imagine what a comedown that would be for the elite media who see everyone but themselves as fake news?

Squeezing Out Elite Media

Under the proposal, to start, the elite media might have to move.

Trump’s team is seeking a new venue to replace the old James S Brady press briefing room

CBS News’s Major Garrett said they “won’t go away” if ejected. Originally, there were rumblings that the corps would be booted out of the White House.

“You can shove us a block away, two blocks away, a mile away. We will be on top of this White House — as we’ve been on top of every White House,” Garrett told CBSN’s Josh Elliott Monday.

“I would not be surprised if they moved us out. I really do think there is something about the Trump administration and those closest to him who want the symbolism of driving reporters out of the White House, moving the elites out farther away from this president,” Garrett said.

If he does, half the nation will cheer.

Sean Spicer said on Sunday, that due to “off the chart demand” in the new administration, the president-elect is considering moving briefings to a venue with a greater capacity.

Making Room for Alternative Media

“We are looking at spaces in the White House that will allow more journalists to cover. I think sometimes change is scary but change can be good,” Spicer said. “I am working with reporters getting their insight but the idea that you can involve more people, be more transparent, and have more accessibility should be seen as a welcome change.”

Could you see Rush Limbaugh or Matt Drudge at a presser? Trump probably can.

“There are a lot of talk radio and bloggers and people who can’t fit in right now and maybe don’t have a permanent seat, because they’re not a part of the Washington elite media,” Spicer said. “But to allow them an opportunity to ask the press secretary or president a question is a positive thing and it’s more democratic and it should be welcomed.”

Maybe the elite media won’t go away but wouldn’t you love to see Matt Drudge or Sean Hannity asking questions at a presser if for no other reason than to see the dinosaurs currently ruling the media go extinct or at least taking a seat in the back of the room?

They could arrange seating by lottery instead of favored status.

If the media conducted even-handed investigative work, maintained neutrality, and adhered to the rules, this wouldn’t be happening. They have only themselves to blame.
