Trump Should Consider the Deal of the Century with Canada

When Doug Ford talked about shutting off line 5, the oil to the United States, he would have shut off all the oil to eastern Canada. Ford wasn’t using his head. A Line 5 shutdown would significantly impact Eastern Canada, potentially leading to fuel shortages, price hikes, and economic disruption, particularly in Ontario and Quebec, as the pipeline is a vital source of oil for refineries in the region.

Alberta’s premier, Danielle Smith, has kept her cool as Donald Trump has criticized Canada or made jokes Canadians don’t appreciate. She would love to make a deal with the United States to give the US more access to their oil sands.

Ezra Levant has a better idea than tariffs on fuel. He wants Trump to make the deal of the century with Alberta for their oil. It would push China out of Canada because the US would buy it all. He wants The Keystone Pipeline back.

Levant also discusses the things that the US wants that are reasonable.

He’s also concerned that some of Donald Trump’s rhetoric is turning the conservatives off, and they might not come out to vote. They really need to get rid of liberal Mark Carney. They desperately need a conservative leader, which they have in Mr. Poilievre.

THE ROLE MODEL FOR THE TERM “CANUCKLEHEAD” = “When Doug Ford talked about shutting off line 5, the oil to the United States, he would have shut off all the oil to eastern Canada. Ford wasn’t using his head.”

Trump needs to drop the nonsense about making Canada the 51st state. It would make more sense to trade our northeastern liberturd states (Vermont, Massachusetts, Maine, etc) for Canada’s conservative western provinces. We don’t need to ruin the USA by absorbing all of Canada. Twenty percent of its population works for the government. Quebec is French. Everyone there has free and ineffective health care. We don’t need their people, just their western resources.

Trading states would be problematic, but you have an interesting point about picking and choosing which provinces to accept. If any of those provinces secede from Canada and ask for US statehood, it would be feasible to consider it. I doubt Trump can just sign them up, but he has a role to play in recognizing their independence.

Canada isn’t going to trade their territory for ours. You cherry pick and make ridiculous imaginary deals about trading eastern states for vast western provinces. This is nonsense. President Trump’s idea of annexing Canada arose from the fact that we are already subsidizing that country to a large degree, he has shown that he cares about Canada, and they and the US would be better off if they united with us, the prospect of this happening is minimal, most Canadians like having their own country, but he is thinking outside the box, and being pragmatic, he has vision for the future and yes, it is bold and eye opening to suggest some of the things he does, but he is trying to ensure a good future for people, it’s not all about money and politics, there is a greater good that is driving his ideas. It’s the same thinking that compels his statements about the Panama Canal and Greenland, he is looking at the big picture and what might be possible. Very few people look at things this way. We are very lucky to have a bright, visionary man such as President Trump in office. I can see the logic in his ideas, and most Canadians I know are very good people, and our countries have a lot in common. I see the union of Canada and the USA as a great thing, were it to ever happen.

I have worked with Canadian military who object to their government failure to fund defense. They would prefer a union with our military in defense of the continent. Having to rely on another nation for defense is a shame on the proud Canadian people
