An attorney for President Trump stated on Sunday that the president is not under investigation. He explained the president’s tweets this week referring to the investigation as a “witch hunt.”
“Let me be clear here,” said Jay Sekulow, a member of the president’s legal team, on NBC’s “Meet The Press.” “The president is not and has not been under investigation for obstruction.”
Chuck took exception to the statement given Trump’s tweets.
Trump tweeted that he was under investigation, seeming to reference Rod Rosenstein, calling it a “witch hunt”.

Jay Sekulow, one of Trump’s attorneys, said the President wasn’t referring to any actual investigation in the message, but rather the news reports of one.
“The tweet from the president was in response to the anonymous sources purportedly leaking info to the Washington Post,” Sekulow said
He was referring to the Post’s report this week that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the election now also includes a look at whether President Trump attempted to obstruct justice.
Todd wanted to know why the President was so afraid of the investigation.
“He’s not afraid of the investigation — there is no investigation,” Sekulow said, adding, “there is not an investigation of the President of the United States, period.”
Sekulow also said that the President knew by firing Comey, it would lengthen the investigation but he did what was “in the best interest of the American people”.
Actually, that makes deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein’s statement more cogent. In his statement, he referred to the fake news stories.
If you put Sekulow’s statements about Trump’s tweets together with Rosenstein’s, they were both talking about the same thing – fake news.
Rosenstein said not to believe the leaks and the anonymously-sourced news stories. If you accept what Jay Sekulow is saying, they are all talking about fake news.
