President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping established a new framework for high-level negotiations on a range of issues and pledged to make progress on trade negotiations within the next 100 days during meetings here Thursday and Friday, top US officials said, CNN reported.

On a day they met – Friday – China ordered coal shipments from North Korea turned back.

China ordered its trading companies to return coal from the isolated country, shipping data shows.

Following repeated missile tests that drew international criticism, China banned all imports of North Korean coal on Feb. 26, cutting off the country’s most important export product.

President Trump has been putting pressure on China to assist in controlling North Korea.

In addition, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has said last week’s U.S. military strike against Syria over its alleged use of chemical weapons was a warning to other countries, including North Korea, that “a response is likely” if they pose a danger.

There are reports that after a Chinese envoy arrived in South Korea, the two sides have reportedly reached an agreement to take “strong action” against North Korea if nuclear and ballistic missile testing continues, according to VOA News.

According to Zerohedge, an editorial in the Global Times tabloid warned North Korea they will bomb them if they cross their red-line.

“China has a bottom line that it will protect at all costs, that is, the security and stability of northeast China… If the bottom line is touched, China will employ all means available including the military means to strike back. By that time, it is not an issue of discussion whether China acquiesces in the US’ blows, but the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) will launch attacks to DPRK nuclear facilities on its own,” the op-ed read.

It has since been removed.
