The congressional race in CD-1 on Long Island is a race that will be watched nationally. Money will flood in from all over the country for the incumbent Democrat, Tim Bishop.
During the last two congressional cycles, Mr. Bishop received large sums of money, donated from rich donors living as far away as California, Democrats who felt the need to determine our elections here on Long Island.
Lee Zeldin has announced his candidacy for Congress and he can beat Tim Bishop but he can’t do it without help.
Since 1996, Suffolk County has voted for Democratic presidential candidates. As of June 2013, Suffolk had 304,114 registered Democrats to 303,728 Republicans — a 386-vote edge for Democrats. Long Island, once a national base of GOP suburban power, is officially Democratic.
Tim Bishop has been a strong supporter of Obamacare, which has destroyed our healthcare system. He needs to go but it will be an uphill battle.
Every Republican needs to step forward in this next election. All hands on deck. Even with Mr. Bishop’s many failures, it won’t be an easy race. Mr. Bishop has money and, judging from the ethics violation against him, he is willing to do anything to win.
Please attend the Zeldin for Congress Campaign Kickoff Rally this Thursday, January 9th at 6:30 pm to be held at the Portugese American Center, 1216 Portion Road, Farmingville, NY 11738.
Everyone’s help is needed. It’s important. The fate of Suffolk County is in our hands.
