CBS News parent company Paramount Global is paying the enormous sum of $16 million to end the lawsuit by President Trump over a 60 minutes news report last fall.
Paramount said the $16,000,000 includes plaintiffs fees and costs. It will not go to Mr. Trump directly but to his future presidential library. President Trump won a similar settlement with Disney’s ABC last December.
Paramount did not have to apologize or express regret for their manipulated report. They had taken parts of Kamala Harris’s interview and reconstituted or omitted sections to make her sound intelligent.
Left wing legal experts told CBS that if they went to trial they would have won it and it was a frivolous suit. They only settled for the huge sum of $16,000,000 because of corporate priorities.
CBS owns local stations that are licensed by the government they believed Trump could have used as leverage. This lawsuit is separate from the Skydance transaction and the FCC approval process they were referring to.
According to CBS News, “Everyone knows the case is not worth $20 million, or even 20 cents, in terms of legal merit,” the Freedom of the Press Foundation said last week. “It’s beyond frivolous — and that’s saying something given the myriad frivolous lawsuits Trump has filed.”
At “60 Minutes,” “everyone thinks this lawsuit is an act of extortion, everyone,” a network correspondent told CNN earlier this year.
They may think that, but it was a lot more significant than they seem to think. They keep downplaying it. They like to pretend it was only one abbreviated question to save time.
The Truth
They wouldn’t show Harris’s entire interview, though that was the original agreement. They aired 20 minutes of a 60-minutes interview. What made their accommodations so significant is it was her big interview before the election and a network shouldn’t be manipulating interviews to favor a candidate. It was only one of many incidents.
At one point, the interviewer asked her how she was going to get a divided Congress to pay for all that she wants. She responded, “It’s gonna be taxes, it’s gonna be literally, the economist, I mean they’re from each spectrum. That was not shown before the election.
They took out her harsher words and left in the gentler ones.
CBS claimed they altered her question to save time, but that is clearly not the case.
Maze Moore did a great job finding this media cover-up of Kamala Harris’s word salads. When people come up with word salads, it’s because they’re not thinking. Maybe they can’t, but they definitely aren’t. Word salads are always meaningless.
Kamala Harris gave a word salad answer on Israel, and disappeared. However, Maze Moore had the original. The media edited her to make her sound more intelligent.
