In Clown World, a raging lunatic is leading the American Federation of Teachers into hardcore leftist ideology instead of educating them.
According to Campus Fix, due to high failure rates among first-year students in math and writing, the SUNY system is mandating weekly tutoring sessions and increased class time for affected classes.
A full 25% of freshmen failed introductory math, and 22% failed English at SUNY Albany, according to the Times Union.
High-performing students are being enlisted to tutor.
These basic courses are so easy. Students really have to be entering in bad academic shape to fail them. They have 375 tutors set up at SUNY Albany.
At Hudson Valley Community College, officials are capping the total number of students per class and adding an hour per week of instructional time. It also “restructured” its “Enhanced English Comprehension 1” last fall semester by limiting class size to 15 and having instructors “oversee” student writing for two hours a week outside of class.
HVCC Computer Science and Math Department Chair Linda Lim blamed the COVID pandemic for “really d[oing] a number on a lot of students.” After a year of virtual learning, she said students in the basic “Math 150” course “began struggling more.”
The pandemic didn’t help, especially with Randi Weingarten bullying Democrats. However, how did these students get passing and even good grades? What are the standards these days?
