Michigan’s Black American population isn’t keen on Abdul El Sayed. He has tried to win them over. He even reluctantly sat down with Kamala Harris as she incoherently rattled on about how banning DEI is somehow “an attack on Black maternal care.” That makes no sense, and Abdul looked like he was making a hostage video.
The media claims he is winning over Black people.
In the most recent Washington Post–Schar School poll, Sept. 10–14, only 67% of likely Black Michigan voters supported El-Sayed. However, a Fox News poll from a month earlier, taken Aug. 6–10, found that 75% of Black Michigan voters said they would vote for El-Sayed. That trend is going the wrong way for El-Sayed.
Fox News said that a large slice of the Black population doesn’t like him. Two years ago, then-Vice President Kamala Harris carried the Black vote in Michigan with 87%. So, El-Sayed is significantly underperforming the most recent Democratic nominee for president.
Abdul needs to win Detroit to win Michigan.

There is a divide between the Black and Arab and Muslim communities. The Arabs and Muslims don’t invest back into the community.
