Federal authorities arrested controversial social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate in Miami, Florida, on Saturday over a series of newly announced rape and human trafficking charges in the United Kingdom.
The UK requested their extradition.
The brothers, who are dual US-UK citizens, were taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service. The United Kingdom’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorized the new charges against them, which involve four further victims and cover alleged offenses between 2010 and 2017.
The Crown Prosecution Service has decided to prosecute Andrew Tate, 39, with seven further counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and 19 additional charges for offenses relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.
The CPS has decided to prosecute Tristan Tate, 38, with one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.
