DEI Schools Face Losing Their Tax-Exempt Status

Many schools with race-based practices have simply rebranded them to pass scrutiny in the wake of the Supreme Court’s 2023 decision in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard. They are still discriminating against White and Chinese people. President Trump will use another approach to deal with the racists. They may now lose their federal tax-exemption status.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the rules from the Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service would declare racial discrimination contrary to fundamental public policy in the U.S., continuing the Trump administration’s push against affirmative action and diversity, equity, and inclusion policies.

“Schools rebranding race-based preferences as equitable, inclusive, or diversity-enhancing does not change their discriminatory nature,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Thursday. “The institutions that continue to use discriminatory practices will no longer receive the benefits of federal tax-exempt status.”

There is no question that preferential treatment based on skin color or ethnicity is discrimination and violates the US Constitution. They use immutable characteristics to determine placements and promotions instead of ability and merit. It is discrimination. There is no better example.

The administration has also disrupted research funding and launched civil-rights probes of major universities for discrimination. It has reached settlements with some, including Brown and Cornell universities.

The American Council on Education brazenly doesn’t care and the suggestion is they will keep violating the US Constitution.

“Our members are not panicked about this,” said Ted Mitchell, president of the American Council on Education, an association of colleges and universities. “We’ve seen this movie before, and there’s nothing new in this, except for the fact that the new weapon is tax-exempt status.”

These schools apparently hate White and Chinese people.
