Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley has won the Democratic primary in Wisconsin’s race for governor, NBC News projects, dealing a major upset to democratic socialist Francesca Hong.
The result marks a dramatic turnaround for Crowley, who had dropped out of the race roughly a month ago after initially struggling to gain traction, only to re-enter days later with outgoing Democratic Gov. Tony Evers’ endorsement.
Francesca Hong probably would have lost to the Republican, which is why Evers endorsed Crowley. He isn’t a moderate, though Democrats are portraying him as one. However, he’s not insane.
Hong almost won. The race was extremely close. It’s a sign of how low Wisconsin Democrats have fallen.
Francesca Hong’s opponent, David Crowley, says: “we have to listen to independents and Republicans because we [Democrats] don’t have a monopoly on good ideas.”

The “Democratic Socialists of America” winning primaries and elections around the nation are almost entirely foreign-born immigrants or first-generation descendants of newcomers, some even originally illegal aliens.
