Gov. DeSantis is calling for the impeachment of a controversial judge who let a predator out on bail who killed his 5-year-old stepdaughter shortly thereafter.
Spencer and his wife, Chloe Spencer, were indicted for first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and child neglect. They are accused of the May 2025 death of his 5-year-old stepdaughter, Missy Mogle, by asphyxiation in Tallahassee, Florida.
At the time of the death, Spencer was out on bond after a conviction for traveling to meet a minor. He was awaiting sentencing.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty, and court proceedings continued into 2026. You can read local updates on the case via WCTV.

This judge was the youngest African American elected judge in the Second Judicial Circuit. She’s seeking re-election in 2026.
Baker-Carper’s supporters say this has become political, and the judge wasn’t given the information about other accusations against Spencer.
Notably, the judge wasn’t the only one involved in releasing the man. A prosecutor reportedly didn’t give the judge additional information about allegations against Spencer.
The judge said she didn’t see violence in Spencer’s record. The judge mentioned drug offenses, but the prosecutor said she wasn’t sure about drug offenses; they were all misdemeanors, she said. The prosecutor should also be considered for impeachment. She sounds too young, ill-prepared, and inexperienced.
Judge Baker also said that Spencer hadn’t committed any violations for a year. The judge only saw drug offenses and, of course, the allegation of trying to meet a minor for sex. That isn’t enough???
Maybe the judge and prosecutor should be arrested for neglect of duty.

Spencer was accused of trying to have sex with a minor with a five-year-old stepdaughter at home. Why are these predators not taken more seriously? And drugs really are a violent offense.
