In California, when a child turns 12, parents lose full online portal access to certain medical records because minors can independently consent to sensitive care. Parents still retain access to routine general health records, and full access can be restored if the minor signs an authorization form.
Children must have their own online access to their medical records, and a parent can’t even go into a child’s doctor visit unless the child signs an authorization allowing it.
