According to The Telegraph, UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham said the British government sees “strong indications” that Iran played a part in the RAF Fairford incident, which was likely a bomb plot or a dry run. In a strange twist, one of the suspects called 999 to warn the police.
“We will say more in due course, but we can confirm… that we believe Iran to have played a part,” he said in a round of interviews.
Before Burnham’s confirmation, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said a “foreign actor” was involved.

The suspected bomb attack on a RAF base was foiled when one of the suspects made a call to police, The Times has learned.
One of the five men phoned 999 in the early hours of Sunday morning before the group was arrested on suspicion of explosives and terrorist offences in the proximity of RAF Fairford.
The Times understands that the police investigation is focused on whether the group members were acting as proxies for Iran during the operation in the Gloucestershire countryside. Whether it was surveillance, a “dry run” to test security or a stunt to send a message to the British government are all under consideration.
What are the suspects’ names, and did they have bombs or plans in their vans? And meanwhile, the UK lets thousands of unvetted people into the country every month.
The five suspected terrorists, who might have been prepared to bomb RAF Fairford, a joint US-UK naval base, were released on bail. Yet, they are very likely tied to Iran. Iran likely had a hand in this, all while lying and pretending they did not.
