Pepsi posted an ad on Threads, assuming the people on the platform were normal. The ad read Pepsi Wild Cherry is what happens when regular cherry stops asking permission. The ad could have been worded better.
Clearly, Pepsi was referring to rebels from cherry soda running to their wild cherry soda. But the angry people on Threads claimed they were making rape jokes. Threads consumers threatened to defect to Coke, calling them disgusting, among other things.
Pepsi apologized a few times, and if they’re smart, they won’t return to Threads ever again. It’s Pepsi. Who would think they meant it as a rape joke?
Threads is a den of leftist anger. Who knows if they will accept the apology. The things people get upset about.
Pepsi has apologized for this post.
I’m sorry, I’m just not going to buy that Pepsi was posting out rape culture jokes, as some have implied.
The “wild” alongside “stops asking permission” clearly implies that their intention was about celebrating rebellion not about… pic.twitter.com/WlrQriMUHx
