President Trump is looking into whether he can eliminate Zohran Mamdani’s communistic tax on second homes. The tax reportedly affects co-ops and condos worth $1 million, which in New York City is more standard than expensive. Not everyone who owns one is rich. People invested in these homes years ago, and the profit should be theirs, not the radical left’s.

The tax also continually taxes unrealized value. It is a dangerous precedent.
We fought a revolution over taxation without representation. This new tax is a great example of why people eventually revolt. Zohran is a communist and wants other people’s money for failed communist initiatives.
President Trump wrote the following on Truth Social:
The NYC Pied-a-Terre Tax is costing New York City and State a fortune in that the money, eventually to be gotten, is very little compared to the TAXES PAID by the tens of thousands of people who are fleeing the City, never to return.
Florida, Texas, and numerous other States are making an absolute fortune! This dangerous political “experiment” in New York will destroy what was once a great City and State. It is pure Amateur Hour, and it’s hard, as President of the United States of America, to sit back and watch it happen, especially to a place I once loved.
Financial, and then Social, RUIN is a 100% certainty – and then the Radical Left Jihadists charge Congestion Pricing on top of everything else.
This doesn’t work in America, and must be stopped, NOW! I am looking to see if the Federal Government has any legal right to avert this disaster before it is too late for the millions of people who cherish New York and want to see it thrive, as opposed to becoming a filthy, crime-ridden, decrepit place of mockery and scorn. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DJT
I’m not hopeful, but the fact that it is communism and helping to ruin the city should matter. People want to see the rich hurt. They shouldn’t, since their money helps the economy. Additionally, as I said, as a New Yorker, many of these people aren’t even rich. They are simply good investors, and their money should not be stolen by greedy, jealous socialists and communists.
Many people buy them for work.
This tax is a backdoor to communism, and not what the USA is supposed to be.
A one-million-dollar budget in New York City buys a compact co-op or condo—typically a studio or small one-bedroom—as a second home (or pied-à-terre). These buyers face strict co-op board rules, high monthly maintenance fees, and closing costs.
